A/N: Well first off, let me just say that the slash potential of this movie is astonishing. Seriously, it was almost impossible for me to suppress the urge to make a heart-shaped Pete/Matt sign immediately after watching the film. But unfortunately, this isn't quite a Pete/Matt fic, but rather, an angsty!neglected!Bovver one. Now although Bovver proved himself to be a real idiot throughout the course of the movie, you have to admit that his bout of 'redemption' at the end was quite touching (honestly, I even teared up a bit).

Disclaimer: I do not own GSE insert 'but oh, if I did...' bit here

Inspiration: I wrote this while under the influence of the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack. Music that I once considered good completely pales in comparison to this stuff. I kid you not mates. So give it a listen if ya have the time, eh.

Obvious

Bovver had always taken comfort in the obvious.

Others might have considered such a thing to be simple or fatuous, but he's found it easier to appreciate the apparent rather than the obscure. He'd never liked solving puzzles or analyzing data. He'd always ended up with more questions, and even less answers.

No, Bovver took pleasure in facts.

So when he witnesses the growing relationship between that prick of a yank and Pete, he takes it for what it is. He doesn't need to analyze their behavior, or dissect every word uttered between them. He simply observes the obvious. And the obvious tells him that the creeping blush that frequents Matt's cheeks isn't from the cold weather, and the glint residing in Pete's blue eyes isn't due to an oncoming match.

Yes, Bovver had always taken comfort in the obvious, but for once, he wishes things weren't so bloody black and white.

- конец (end)-

A/N: I'm kinda disappointed with the end of this one. Now mind you, I hadn't planned anything spectacular, but it would seem that my creative juices expired somewhere between the fifth and sixth sentence.

Nonetheless, feedback is appreciated.

(P.S., the lyrics in the beginning might be a little misplaced, and I actually intended to use them in another Bovver fic I'm writing. But since I'm a weirdo by nature, I decided to use them for this one, if nothing else, because I can.;)
