Summary: Jacob Black is in love with his best friend, Bella Swan. Bella is in love with her boyfriend, Edward Cullen. Jacob gives winning Bella one last try and places a wager with Edward that if Bella comes to La Push to stay for one week, with no contact from Edward, he will finally win Bella's heart. Will it work or will Jacob be left or hurt over the loss love of Bella for all of his life?

The Bet
Chapter 1
Jacob Black is my best friend and he is so much fun to be around. But not when he starts acting like this.
"Bella, I can give you more than him." Jacob pleaded, his eyes staring intently into mine. They were bright and tears swam just beneath the surface.
I looked away from him. I knew I couldn't give Jacob what he wanted from me. I was irrevocably in love with my boyfriend, Edward. I would never love anybody as much as I loved him. Jake had been there for me when Edward wasn't and maybe we could have became something more. But the minute Edward was back in my life... it was like nothing had changed.
I looked back at Jacob and opened my arms. He leaned into my hug and I held him as tight as I could. He was so much bigger than me, I felt like a tiny doll next to him. His skin was hot to the touch and he smelled like the earth. "I'm sorry Jake. I do love you. And you know how much I wish it was enough."
Jacob choked on a sob. My eyes widened. I had never seen Jacob cry. I held him tighter and my heart ached with regret and sympathy. I knew this feeling. I knew what it felt like to be unwanted, to be rejected, to love someone so much it made you cry.
I was so sorry for causing him pain. I loved Jacob Black and I hated to see him like this. Slow, silent tears began to leak from my eyes as well.
