It's been almost a year. Oops. Well, I'm back, and I want to try this story again. So hang with me.
6 Men.
Crack!
Five. Five men. The soldier thought, calmly, just having dispatched their lookout, his body now lying on the ground, his neck twisted at a very unhealthy angle.
Thwink! Thwink!
Three Men. The Soldier simply stated to himself, the sound of his suppressed secondary going off, accompanied by the satisfying sound of the pistols rounds going through the guards helmets.
Poor Bastards. All they wanted was a paycheck.. He mumbles to himself, the sound of two bodies falling to the ground following not too far behind.
The last guard falls, slumping against the very building he was hired to guard, hardly visible under the night sky, accompanied by the guards dark clothing.
The soldier bent down, plucking the keycard needed for entry off the last guards body.
Sorry, kid.. Didn't look like you were using it very much, anyway. The door slid open, The Soldier quickly stepping in, clearing down the hallways.
He kept his rifle slung tightly over his back, his pistol roaming wherever his sights went. He slowly and carefully made his way down the halls, checking every corner, eventually reaching the room he was looking for.
Security. Bingo. That's where they'll have the data.. I hope. The absence of guards doesn't bode well.. He shrugged the thought off, slowly opening the door.
Seriously...? The guys asleep... The Old Soldier rolled his eyes, holstering his pistol and drawing his knife, quickly slicing the mans throat, pulling him out of the chair and sitting down himself. He quickly glanced over the camera, looking for more guards, or at least someone. Nothing. Jack-Shit.
Wait... That ones locked. His eyes stop on one of the doors, the normal 'Green' Unlocked light replaced with red.
There's someone in there.. The Soldier quickly got up, plugging the device into the main computer.
"Artemis, copy everything, even if it doesn't look important." The Soldiers voice cut the almost complete silence of the room, quiet of all but a few humming computers.
"Yes Sir, starting data transfer now." The Feminine voice came from inside the Soldiers visor, letting him know she heard the request.
The Soldier quickly exited the room, quick, soft steps echoing throughout the seemingly abandoned building. Seemingly, because the next corner held a surprise for the old man.
"W-who the hell are you?!" The guards weapon was raised, pointed at the Soldiers chest.
"You ever heard the sayin 'Shoot First, Ask Questions Later?', kid?"
Realization dawned across the guards face.
About half a second before The Soldiers knife went through it.
The Soldier sighed, retrieving his knife.
Young Punks... Welcome to War. The Soldier cleaned his knife as he walked, coming across the door he saw from the Security Camera footage.
This is it.. Please don't be a trap.. He begged no one in particular, quickly swiping the keycard, moving swiftly in as the door opened. What he found? The worst weapon in history.
A woman...? He faltered for a second, lowering his pistol.
What is it with Talon and kidnapping women... Fucking Pervs.. He carefully approaches the table, noticing the lack of scars, but the abundance of... Tools.
They must not have gotten to the fun parts then... He scoffed, scowling deeply. He reached his hand out, gently shaking the woman awake, taking note of the straps holding her down.
"Hey, kid.. You in there?" The woman stirs, her eyes opening groggily.
"W=what...?" Her eyes instantly snap open, trying to squirm away from the man.
"Who are you! Why am I strapped to a bed! Why do you look like... Cyclops?" Her fear diminishes slightly, trying to look closer at the man.
"I'm Soldier:76. I'm not gonna hurt you. And who the hell is Cyclops?" He looks at her curiously, still contemplating untying her.
"You know, the X-Man? With the Eye laser beams and stuff?" He continues to look at her blankly, clearly not having any clue. She sighs sadly.
"Really? No clue? That's depressing..." She tries to move again, realizing shes tied up. She looks up at the red glow coming from the mans visor.
"Mind giving me a hand...? Mr.. sixty seven, was it?" She hides her smile, trying to look serious.
"Seventy-Six, kid." He starts to undo her straps, and she lets herself smile,
"Really? You don't look that old. Well, I mean I think. Your forehead doesn't look old? And your hair? Is that rude?" She swung her legs over the side of the bed once she was free, still looking at the soldier.
"It's just a number, kid. And no, I'm not that old." He fights the urge to chuckle, turning towards to door.
"Come on, We should get going. Don't want those Talon assholes figuring out I'm here." The Soldier opens the door, checking the dark hallways quickly.
"Who?" The woman hops onto the floor, her bare feet making barely any noise as she lands. The Soldier glances back at her.
"The guys who put you here? Strapped to that bed?" She pursed her lips, thinking.
"Nope. No idea. The only thing I remember is you waking me up. Ah, I remember like it was yesterday.." She says dreamily, smiling. The Soldier scoffs, looking back to the halls.
"Funny, kid. Do you remember anything? At all?" She shakes her head, putting her boots on.
"Nope. Nothing. Nada. Except how to talk, obviously. And no, In Spanish. Man, I hated that class. I think..." She looks down, confused.
"Not even a name?" She shakes her head again.
"Nope. Nothing. I know that I am a woman? Which is obvious." He smiles again, despite the situation.
"Well come on kid, lets go. I have to grab something first, though." She nods, following closely behind him as he retrieves his AI Companion, Artemis.
"All Data successfully copied and stored, sir." The brown haired woman stares at the small device curiously.
"Your USB drive just talked.." Jack rolled his eyes, adjusting his pulse rifle on his back.
"That it did, kid. And hopefully she has your information. Who you are, and what not." The woman smiled brightly again.
"Negative, sir. There are no files regarding the woman." Her smile falls again, and the Soldiers shoulders slump slightly.
"Well... Shit." He sighed, walking out of the base, not bothering to close the door. The woman following close behind him.
"So what now, Mr. eighty nine?" She started smiling again, catching up to be alongside the soldier.
"Seventy Six, kid." She shrugged her shoulders dismissively.
"Close enough. I mean, at least you have a name, right?" The soldier scoffed, reaching the fence that surrounded the building. He held apart the section he cut open to get in.
"Yeah. I guess." The woman went through the fence, holding it open for the soldier to crawl through.
"For now, we find a place to stay the night. I don't want you wandering around the city without knowing who you are." She nodded in agreement. The soldier sighed deeply, as if about to make a decision he will most certainly regret.
"I have a place, kid. Just keep close, don't fall too far behind." She immediately nods, mock saluting.
"Sir Yes Sir!"
