Ben was just a small boy, only twelve. His mother had died, and his father, brothers, and sisters blamed him. They constantly beat him. His grandmother and grandfather were always kind to him and bought him whatever he wanted, mainly, Legend of Zelda games, his favorite by far was Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask, he constantly beat the game, but, they were going to the beach. He was surprised they even let him come instead of leaving him at his grandparents as usual. His game was interrupted so he never got to finish it. His brothers and sisters were acting strangely kind towards him. His oldest brother decided to take him up on the cliff and "Show him the view of the ocean." Ben couldn't swim. His brother pushed him off, as Ben slowly sank down, he could see his brothers and sisters watching him with excited eyes through the salt water.
Now salt water, you drown slowly in, it dries up your body, takes the blood from your cells, and the blood leaks into your lungs. Your eyes, nose, and mouth are connected, so that must mean the lungs are also connected to your eyes though you might not know that. So, his blood could've leaked out his eyes, nose, and mouth, therefore, drowning him in his own blood.
Now as a ghost, a game's haunting glitch for Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. He has blood leaking out of his eyes, they use to be a light blue and his hair shined blonde, but now, he has dark blonde hair and black eyes with glowing red pupils, blood leaking out of them. And he's dressed like Link from Legend of Zelda. Therefore, BEN Drowned haunts his favorite game, causing anyone who plays it to die by committing suicide due to him driving them insane, or killing them himself. His sayings, "You shouldn't have done that. You have met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" The last one, he heard his grandmother say, "He has met with a terrible fate, hasn't he?" He was already dead and haunting the game, his brothers, sisters, and father gave them all of Ben's stuff. The, "You shouldn't have done that." There's no knowing where that came from so, his spirit has revenge written all over it. Now you know how he died, and now you know why his haunting glitchy self looks how it appears. His other saying is "BEN's getting lonely." So, I guess that means that he wants a friend and he thinks the way to get a friend is driving them nuts and killing them...
