Passing Each other on Burning Street

They pass each other on the street.

A fox is a fox, she should have known ... He should have known.
And as much as they struggle to plant ideas in one's head .. There is a natural order in life that unless properly worked out it wouldn't let certain things to pass.
Certain things, them included.
Nick stares longly at her. She was ... She was more than a hustle, He finally admits.

She looks back, oh she looks. No longer do her eyes shine like they used to, her eyes were water, clear, fluid .. pure and overwhelming. It sinks in his heart deep now, nothing is as used to be, even for the idealists like Judy. They harden eventually.
His eyes were green, always green .. Iridescent at least in her mind.
She now thinks they change colours, a natural decoy yet there was something shining ,there is always something shining in the back of his eyes.
A hidden truth .. A word that was always unsaid between them, hanging between them and will always be hanging now.
They pass each other and their hearts clench but they have to ignore it, even if their hearts beat in sync, relentlessly in sync, even if all they want is to tear the world, the crowds apart and reach for each other because this city forced into perfection, forced into a phoney harmony is falling apart, disintegrating. The pieces are sliding off bit by bit and the ugly façade of the regressing city sinking into self deprecation, the city that never truly evolved from its primitive Jungle state is showing. Ironically, There is a giant screen in the background, loud and looming, boasting the perfect city, the perfect world order. And both know it is lying, it is audacity in its unadulterated form. They eventually move on, they overcome those fleeting seconds of yearning, of lament and what ifs ... But something lingers in the pit of their guts ... An expectation, a fear .
Next time they cross each other, they might be enemies on different sides of an impending war.

Next time, there maybe love, memories, clemency between them But it won't be enough to hold them back from battling one another.

Predator and Prey in a burning forest.
