Fire Lily

Today was the day.

The groom hardly slept a wink, and Tadashi was sweating in his robes. Despite his insomnia and rapid heat, the day was already getting off to a great start. It was his wedding day after all.

It wasn't every day that you were getting married to the Avatar.

It seemed just like yesterday when he first met Ami in the back alley of his Aunt Cass's restaurant. Tadashi emptied the rain water from the bucket, and accidentally splashed it all on Ami when she was in the alley. When he found out she was the Avatar, he was beyond mortified to learn that he just splashed water on one of the most important figureheads in the world.

Back then, she was in disguise. She wanted to not be the Avatar for at least fifteen minutes. He should have recognized her from her picture in the newspaper.

"I knew you were familiar…"

"I know I lied, and I'm sorry. I just wanted someone to see me as me for once in my life and not just the Avatar…"

"I splashed water on the Avatar."

"Wait, so… you're not mad at me?"

His eyes widen. "I just splashed water on the Avatar…!"

Now here they were after so many adventures and threats to the world. He was at the beginning with Ami and their friends. They were all gathered together for their wedding day.

Ami could have any guy she wanted, but she picked him out of all people. Even if Ami wasn't the Avatar, she was born into the Fire Nation nobility. He was just somebody from the streets. An orphan firebending, street rat from the lower end of the Fire Nation. He already heard whispers as he walked through the Fire Nation Royal Palace that he had no place with them or with Ami.

"It doesn't matter who you are, Tadashi. I just want you."

Her own people didn't even accepted her. The other girls around her at court excluded her when they were children. They thought Ami was too good to be friends with them because she was the Avatar.

It was even a miracle that she said yes after he proposed to her. But he knew ever since he met her, she was the one. After five years of being together as a couple, they knew they were going to have five years more and beyond.

"Hey, Tadashi…" Hiro, the best man beckoned. "Turn around."

Ami, dressed in a Fire Nation wedding robe, her hair done up in wedding ornaments and fire lilies soon walked up to the alter.

A smile was soon on his face, joyous tears stinging in his eyes.

Tears were in Ami's eyes as well. "Hey…"

Yes… She definitely was the one.
