A/N: No strong judgements please this will be my first ever fanfic.
As team RWBY fought off the seemingly endless hordes of Grimm they started to wonder if this would ever end.
One hour earlier:
"Ozpin you called for me." Ruby said curiously to the professor after being woken from sleep by the noise of her scroll, telling her to come to Ozpin's office. "Miss Rose, I called you here because I have been receiving constant reports of Grimm in the forest outside of the school." Ozpin said in his usual calm yet serious tone. "And you want my team to go in and thin out their numbers, am I correct." Ruby confidently yet sleepily said since she had been woken quiet suddenly. "You are correct, I would like you to enter the forest and commence a search and destroy mission." Ozpin replied with a stern voice.
Present time:
As Ruby sliced a beowolf in half she took a split second to see how the rest of her team was doing. She saw Weiss first because she was closest. Weiss was currently fighting off an Ursa and two beowolfs. Ruby then turned her eyes to Yang who had just finished off a boarbatusk and was turning towards two ursas. Blake was diving under attacks and was continuously moving cutting down a small beowolf pack. Ruby was thrown back into her fight after an ursa sent her flying with a large swipe. "RUBY!" Yang screamed turning to look at her sister after just winning her fight. "I'm okay" she replied allowing Yang to focuse again on the fight.
After continuous hours of fighting they were down to two ursas , five beowolfs and a nevermore. "Yang and Blake you two take the beowolfs, Weiss and I will take the ursas." Blake and Yang nodded in unison and charged the wolfs , while Weiss used a glyph to propel herself at on ursa and Ruby opened fire on the other. In no time at all RWBY had dealt with the remaining threat only remembering about the nevermore after hearing it's deafening screech. The creature was too far away to attack head on so they used their firearms. Realising defeat the nevermore turned and fled.
Team RWBY started on their walk back when Ruby heard a sound from behind them. Rushed to Weiss and pushed her to the ground.
Weiss was walking towards Beacon when she was suddenly saw a flash of red and was on the ground. Knowing who had pushed her she went to get up to scream at Ruby when she heard a horrific piercing sound from behind her. She slowly turned to see Yang and Blake staring blankly at something their eyes wide with shock. As she turned more she saw a sight that almost made her puke. Before her eyes she saw her leader, Ruby impaled by a nevermore feather.
Weiss broke down in tears so did Yang but Blake just stared and couldn't what was before her. Ruby, their leader ,their friend was dead her life taken away by a Grimm that was already gone. She had sacrificed herself for Weiss her last act was an act of selflessness.
