A Firefly Goodbye
Under the beautiful night sky, Upon the bridge of which we first met, We watched the fireflies enjoying the calming darkness. You looked at your reflection in the small stream. I see your sorrow filled eyes, "What's wrong?" I asked, A single tear dropped from your eye, Then you look me strait into mine. You said "Goodbye, but not for long" to me. You claimed you would return, But then I was impossible to get through to. I didn't want you to leave me, I didn't believe you'd return. We'd always been just friends, But still, I didn't want you to leave, At least not until you knew my feelings. "DON'T GO! I NEED YOU!" I shouted. I fell to my knees, crying into the palms of my hands, Repeating "Don't go." over and over. You picked me up and held me tightly, Too shocked to cry anymore, I said, "I love you." You held my head to yours and whispered softly into my ear, "And I you." You looked me strait into the eyes, then pulled me close. I pulled away gently, but only to kiss your glistening lips. I asked if it was necessary for him to go. A firefly flew between us. "If I truly love you, then I must." I cried into his shoulder and slowly raised my head to softly kiss his cheek. He pushed me away gently and ran, tears flying behind him.
It's been a month since he left, and everyone else has already returned. I wait heart broken with my friend at my dojo, I have begun to lose hope. "He's not coming back, is he?" "No," she replies as I cry into her shoulder. The door opens in front of me, but my eyes are too filled with tears to see who enters. I say, "Go away," thinking it's Yahiko. "I finally am home." I recognize the voice, and it isn't Yahiko. I wipe away my tears, thinking 'it's him! It really is!" He's come back to his home, back to me! I run into his arms with tears of joy flowing down my rouge cheeks. " I missed you so much, and I don't ever want you to leave me again!" "I won't, and that's a promise," was all he said before he kissed my rosy lips. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I know, most of it is a lot different than what actually happened, but you know. It wasn't exactly the episode, but one of the trailers for that season that inspired me for this poem. Well I'm sleepy and someone is snoring, plus before I go to bed I want to finish watching a movie. Goodness it's late * YAWN *
