Chapter 1

Now before we begin, I would like to say that this is the first story of a series I plan on creating for Kingdom Hearts. I am a huge KH nerd, and I've had this idea for so long now, but I didn't want to publish it until I was certain how I wanted to cover this. Even then, I think I'll want to change some things on this, but I have a nice general idea how I wanna cover this "version" of KH. And in the spirit of Kingdom Hearts 3 coming this year, and I plan on getting it, because why the hell not?!, this story will be covering the first game. I do have some OC's I plan on adding, so if you don't like stories like this, you're welcomed to leave. This is my first major writing project, so this will take some time to complete. Of course, I do plan on making mini stories in between my major ones, so feel free to ask for requests. And yes, I will write just about everything, from yaoi, to yuri, to fujo's, so go ahead. It's welcomed. But not in this story. So yeah. ENJOY MY STORY: KINGDOM HEARTS: THE KINGDOM QUEEN!

"It is almost time…"

'Time?'

"Yes… The era of the Key is nigh…"

'What do you mean 'Key'?'

"All will be revealed in due time… Yesss the time is nigh and you will be the lock…"

A scream broke her from her thoughts, and realization smashed her in the face when she took in her surroundings. She was in a cave? Oh right. She was in the Secret Place. 'Weird, I wonder what that was?' She took in a soft breath and looked around again. Shaking her head, she stood up from her spot and noticed the drawings littering the cave walls.

"Hm, man, we've gone haywire on the walls."

"C'mon, gimme me a break, Kairi!" The voice echoed through the small space, and a smile made it's way to her face.

"Guess I better get to the others now." She began making her way out of the small cave when she stopped, and started fumbling through her pockets. 'Where is it?" Her eyes widened when she found it, and she slipped out the small list from her pockets.

"Let's see. Repair materials for the sail, backup wood…" She continued reading off the list in her head as she walked towards the beach. Her eyes lifted from the paper when she noticed three other teens near the shore. As she got closer she could hear the conversation and stuffed the list in her pocket, deciding to figure out what do with it afterwards.

"And you're just as lazy as he is!" The oldest looking teen spoke up to the small girl in the group from his spot on the ground. The girl giggled, her red hair moving over her face in the small breeze.

"So you've noticed." She giggled again, her sea blue eyes shimmering with excitement.

"You call her lazy, Riku, but from what I can see, you seem to be just as lazy as them combined!" Riku and the other two teens looked over to the to the source of the voice and smiled until their eyes widened in surprise.

"Ame!?" They all yelled out, before the red head ran over to the girl.

"Your hair!" Ame gave a mischievious smile before running a hand through her hair.

"Surprise!" She yelled out, launching her arms in the air, her mischievious smile turning into a full blown grin. Riku stood from his spot and walked over to his friend and grabbed a strand of her hair and tugged on it softly. The silverette smiled before crossing his arms.

"Looks nice." He said simply, earning a small blush from the small girl in front of him. But before he could tease her for it, he was tackled by the other boy in the group.

"Riku, do you see Ame's hair!?" The boy yelled into his friend's ear, shaking him playfully back and forth. The girls simply stood on the side, observing the situation with blank smiles on their faces, completely used to this behavior. Riku pushed the other boy off him by his face, a slight irritated look on his own face, aquamarine eyes flat with annoyance.

"Yes Sora, I see it." Sora's blue eyes went from Riku to Ame, switching back and forth between the two. Giving a small snort, Ame walked over close to the water and plopped down with a rather lazy on her face.

"I've been telling you guys for awhile now, I was going to cut my hair." She ran a hand through her navy blue locks, her hair barely reaching her shoulders, the front longer than the back, her bangs swept to the right side of her face. Ame looked over her shoulders, her blue eyes holding bored amusement, and she gave a small pout.

"If you guys don't like it, then you can tell me already." The other three teens all gasped in shock, their eyes suddenly looking guilty. Sora began waving his gloved hands in the air, his blue eyes widened.

"N-no no no! We didn't mean that Ame! We're just surprised, that's all! You look really pretty- I mean your hair looks really! Not to say that you don't look pretty! You do- Mphh!" Sora's loud rambling was cut off with a gloved hand to his face, leaving the poor blunette with a blush beginning to creep on her pale cheeks, and Sora still squirming in the other boys grasp. Riku had an irritated look on his face as kept his hand over the brunette's mouth.

"Sora. Just stop talking for a second." The older teen said simply, his eyes closed in annoyance, his silver eyebrows slightly furrowed. After a few seconds, the younger boy finally stopped his movements, and Kairi noticed his mischievious eyes all of a sudden narroe

"Oh boy, here we go again." The redhead said softly, earning a slightly confused stare from the other girl, until both Kairi and Ame sighed when they heard the banter begin.

"Riku! What the heck was that about!? I couldn't breathe!" Sora yelled out towards his older friend, his cheeks puffed in anger, his gloved hands clenched at his sides. Riku simply rolled his eyes, crossing his strong arms over his chest.

"Sora, you really are dense sometimes." Riku said with a playful yet flat look on his face, leaving Sora with a confused one on his.

"Huh? How?" The brunette questioned, truly oblivious to Riku's words. 'He really is something else.' Ame thought to herself, a small smile on her face as she looked up to the redhead that was observing the small quarrel between the two boys, ignoring them completely.

"So what were you guys talking about before I got here?" She asked, crossing her legs, resting her chin in the palm of her hand.

"Oh, just about where I come from. For some reason, Sora really wants to know, even though I keep telling him I don't remember." Ame giggled at her best friends comment, turning her head towards her other friends.

A soft almost somber smile graced Ame's features as she stared at the brunette and silverette continue to argue, and for some unknown reason, a small pang in her chest almost made her lose her smile.

"Hm, I guess you have." She said softly, before shaking her head, and standing up, walking over to the boys and pulling both strands of their hair, stopping the obnoxious arguing.

"C'mon you two, enough. Let's do something else right now!" Ame spoke with playfulness, her blue eyes shining in the sun. Sora, despite the fact that he had a long nap earlier, flopped right onto the ground in "exhaustion", earning slight displeased looks from his friends.

"Hey Sora! Get up you lazy bum! You can't sleep all day!" Ame scolded the boy, slightly glaring down at him, irritated Copenhagen blue eyes meeting sky blue ones.

"But I don't wanna! I'm sleepy!" The brunette whined, his eyes shutting, as if to block out everything, even if it was a failed attempt. But hey, to each his own.

"Man, Sora, you and Kairi really are lazy." Riku shot out teasingly, causing Kairi to giggle, and Sora to shoot up from the sand with a flat frown. Ame just rolled her eyes at the action and walked over to her friend and punched Riku on the arm, a grin on her face.

"Hey. What was that for?" The silverette laughed, softly clutching the spot where Ame punched, his eyes holding mock pain, earning a laugh from the blunette, and a teasing laughing from Sora. Kairi watched the scene before her, her heart warming at the scene of her friends. They were always like this, playing, messing around. She snapped out of her happy thoughts when she felt her hand being tugged on.

"Alright then Riku! If you're not so lazy, then how 'bout a race?" The blue haired girl challenged, her eyes fierce and competitive, her grip on Kairi's hand firm.

"Yeah let's race!" Kairi joined in, clutching on tighter to Ame's hand that was holding her own.

"Ready, set, go!" The girls yelled out, when suddenly, all four teens began dashing for where ever they would race towards, their feet picking up sand and scattered shells on the beach. Sora and Riku were neck in neck, Ame somehow managed to dash ahead of them, and poor Kairi was left all the way behind, yet from the large smile on the girl's face, it was obvious she didn't mind.

"Hurry up, slowpokes!" Ame yelled over her shoulder, her expression filled with happiness.

This was Destiny Islands. This was their home. This… was their everyday life. And soon, everything the four teens knew would be shattered before their very eyes.
