One things that Ana knew was that the world was hardly fair. She first got a taste of the bitter world when she entered eighth grade. The day started as slow and dim as any other, she awoke at five thirty and cooked food for her parents. She knew if she failed to make breakfast her parents would whine about how she wasn't helping around the house and that all she was good for was getting good grades. The only thing that kept Ana from ever failing was the pressure her parents would put on her year after year. This also included the ever-pressing feeling she would be an utter failure to her parents.

When she finished feeding her cold faced parents, she sighed and pushed her hands through her old gray coat. She walked the familiar route to get to school but when she got to the sixth block from her house something was off. The normally busy street was blocked for construction, though no body was working, and not a single being in sight. Not one person getting a soggy paper in there thread bare robes or middle aged woman on health kicks making their dog suffer a jog with them. Ana stopped dragging her feet through the gravel and picked up her pace to escape the empty and seemingly cold area.

"I loathe construction." She mumbled to herself after kicking some more gravel with her worn sneakers. After she walked another block Ana felt a tight grip on her elbow before her bones began to protest to the pressure. She swirled around and gazed up at a cold face like her parents' but oh-so different. Instead of stress and bitter life causing the man's expression it seemed he was insane. Almost like he was once normal but let the darkness within take over and thrive. Instead of getting some physciatric help, he was acting upon his insanity, on Ana. Before she knew what was happening, she was shoved into the shadows with her mouth muffled by a rough hand. She kicked and swung her arms to attempt for a hit and, while she was strong, she always lacked aim. The dangerous man used his hands and knees to hold her flailing limbs. Then he did the worst and most disgusting things you could do to a young teenager or child. He started by ruining her old coat with his rough hands by ripping it at the seams, then her clothes. He hurt her physically, he damaged her emotionally, and he stole her innocence away forever.

Life really isn't fair, she thought.
