AN: Hello everyone! Just a short little fluffy one shot here. I hope you guys enjoy, tell me what you think!
Disclaimer: I don't own Kuroko no Basuke.
With Kagami in the midst of finals, constantly occupied and having no time for anything other than attempted study, and Aomine already having completed his exams, meaning that he had nothing to do without someone to have a one on one with, the air was tense. Aomine had decided to hang around the redhead's dorm, wishing for attention the way a two year old would, but Kagami had no attention to give, and what with his boyfriend's disruptive attitude, he was losing patience quickly.
After a quiet 45 seconds, the longest stretch the weary student had gotten in over an hour, the aforementioned disruptive boyfriend had become bored again, apparently deciding against his better judgement that it was a good time to speak.
"Hey, baka," he began, flicking Kagami, who was diligently working next to him, on the arm. "You've been complaining about me all day, all week even. It's annoying that I do this, I'm an idiot for saying that. If I suck so much, why do you put up with me? Wouldn't it be easier for you if you just, you know, made me go away?" He didn't seem irritated, mostly just thoughtful if not a tinge upset, but the same could not be said for his counterpart.
"Actually, I've been wondering the same thing," Kagami practically growled, not even looking up from his computer. "You're such a nuisance, aho, maybe I'd be better off just kicking you out and being done with all of this nonsense.
He was tempted to leave it at that, satisfied and just the slightest bit smug with the fact that he had managed to quiet Aomine. But the feeling of the room had gone from tense to downright melancholy, and despite the bluenette's poor attempts at hiding it, Kagami could see from Aomine's deep frown and disappointed eyes that he was hurt. He decided to elaborate on the thought to its completion. Maybe he was a bit rough, but he wasn't heartless.
"Ah, but I couldn't do that, Ahomine. Studying is already boring enough to kill me, so without your stupid outbursts I'd probably be long dead by now."
Aomine perked up a bit at the admission, but not placated completely. "So that's it, then? You just deal with me because I amuse you?"
"Idiot, just let me finish," Kagami sighed, having lost a lot of his earlier bite. "I put up with you because I, well, because I love you, genius. You make me want to tear my own hair out half the time, and yet everything would suck a whole lot more if you weren't around. I'm not just tolerating you, I need you.
"Oo, Bakagami, who knew you could be so sappy?" Aomine questioned cheekily, having regained both his normal personality and his annoying smirk. Kagami couldn't tell, his skin was already dark and the light in the room was rather dim, but there was a chance that his cheeks had become tinged pink despite the joking facade.
"Oi, maybe I love you, but if you don't shut up now and wipe that smirk off of your face I'll meteor jam your head into the toilet."
Everything was how it always was between the two of them, and that was just the way they liked it.
