"C'mon, Spence. It's snowing."
"It always snows here, Lila. It's winter."
She gives him a glare. "I live in SoCal, Reid."
He looks over his book at his last name. She never calls him by his last name. He watches her for a second, her eyebrows raised high, her hands on her hips. He breathes out and closes his book, setting it on his lap.
"I don't like the cold. No, let me rephrase. I don't do well in the cold. My skin gets all-"
"Yeah, yeah, You grew up in Las Vegas, I know. I know, but Spence. It's snowing!"
She pouts as she looks outside, the kids who live in his building are already out, playing in the snow. She looks back at him, her pout even more extreme. "Please."
"You could always go by your-"
"No! The little kids will gang up on me. I need my protector."
His hands slide over the book as he looks at her. "So not only do you want me to go out in the blistering cold with you, but you want me to stand in front of you as obnoxious children throw ice balls at me."
Lila smiles, sweetly. "Yes."
"No."
She huffs before moving closer to him, sitting on his lap. "You can wear your scarf and your thick coat and all that hair, keeps your ears nice and warm, I bet."
"Lila, Do I have to remind you that I got shot in the knee this year?"
She rolls her eyes. "You haven't been using a cane for months now."
"Maybe, but I'm still-"
"Excuses, excuses."
He glares at her and she pouts, moving closer to him. "Come on, baby face. Come have a little fun with me."
"I am having fun."
"Reading," She tilts her head to read the title of the book. "The Neurotic Constitution? That doesn't even sound funny."
He stares at her, not amused, and she continues to pout. He sighs and puts the book to the side. "We could stay in and drink coffee and watch a movie."
She makes a sour face. "I don't want to watch a movie. I want to play in the snow!"
He raises an eyebrow. "You sound like Henry."
"You'd go out in the snow with Henry." She pouts and he sighs.
"He's 18 months old, Lila. He's never experienced snow."
"And I haven't either. I lived in Texas before California, Spence. Texas!"
He studies her face before laughing. "Okay, fine. We'll go out in the snow."
She grins and kisses him quickly before moving to the bedroom to get ready.
"I love you." He calls out before looking out at the snow. He turns to see her at the door, pulling on his coat, his jaw dropping.
"I thought you said-"
"You have other coats!"
He glares. "You're horrible."
She smiles before disappearing to grab something else. She returns wrapping his purple scarf around her neck. "Yeah, but you love me."
He glares at her, but doesn't say anything about it this time. There's no use fighting it. He gets up and kisses her cheek before going to get his coat and look for another scarf, since he has taken over his favorite one. She pats his butt as he passes.
"I love you." She says in a sing-song voice as he makes his way to the closet.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." She hears him mumble and she giggles.
