Smoking Air
Blake was never the type to talk much. She didn't mind hanging around in the background just observing. She liked to think that she was kind of like the darkness and her companions were the light.
Her mouth curved into a smile. It had been over ten years since she first met them. Team RWBY were the ones that changed her for good and gave her so much confidence in being who she was. Blake fiddled with her fingers nervously.
A reunion with her was making her really uneasy but not in a bad way. The blonde was like a best friend to her but they honestly lost contact with each other three years ago. There wasn't a fight or anything, they just got caught up in their work lives. It was hard to balance your life when there were too many things happening in your career.
"You showed up after all, huh?"
Blake almost jumped in surprise the moment she felt a hand fall onto her shoulder. She felt her heart beat against her chest at the sound of the familiar voice. The blonde woman has a bright grin on her face. So bright that she thought she was going to be blinded by her.
"Why wouldn't I?" Blake turned back to the cup in her hands.
She heard Yang sit down beside her an order a drink from a passing waiter. Blake swallowed some of the liquid and noticed Yang's manicured nails tap against the table repeatedly.
"Anything new?" Yang began with a smile.
"Not really," Blake continued to stare down at her drink, "It's been a while though."
Yang agreed with a nod. After a couple of minutes of idle chatter the waiter came back with Yang's ice tea. The blond smiled at the employee and Blake couldn't help but notice the blush that appeared across his face as he left.
The assassin couldn't blame him. Yang was beautiful. Blake felt the grip on her cup go tighter.
"Ruby couldn't come since she apparently had something to do, so it'll just be us, 'kay?" Yang said through sips.
Blake nodded quietly.
The blonde watched her expression curiously but only sighed at the fact there really wasn't any expression. She smiled. Blake really hadn't changed since she was a teenager besides having grown a bit and her face maturing into a really fine lady.
"I love you~" Yang cooed.
Blake spat out her coffee.
"J-Just what do you think you're saying…!?"
The blonde cocked her head to the side, pouting teasingly. "Hmm? What are you talking about?"
Blake gritted her teeth, clutching onto her coffee cup. Yang loved to play games like this.
"About love…" Blake's yellow eyes darted back and forth to check if anyone was listening.
Yang let out a snicker and Blake shot her a silent glare. She locked eyes with Blake, "But I am being serious. Do you love me?"
Blake blinked a couple of times. She wasn't expecting her to just randomly ask. It was true that they had an on and off relationship in the past which should have been fixed earlier on, but Blake was sure this time of her feelings. She had grown up.
A small red tint appeared on her cheeks and Blake bravely decided to open her mouth to answer Yang's straightforward question. But before she could say anything, Yang grabbed a menu from the side of the table, stood up in her spot and leaned down to place her lips roughly onto Blake's, shielding the view from the crowd with the menu.
Blake couldn't help but gasp in surprise. She really wasn't expecting that. The kiss was short and Blake was able to taste the ice tea on Yang's lips. She loved how sweet Yang tasted during kisses.
Yang sat back down onto the chair, placing the menu to the side while a chuckle escaped her soft lips. Blake had a blush present on her face which made Yang only think of her to be much more cuter.
"Ehehe, did you enjoy?" Yang asked with a teasing tone.
Blake sighed a bit embarrassed, grabbing the menu and lightly hitting the blonde on the head with it.
"Just shut up."
