I'm starting a little Vincent Valentine Drabble Series. All are exactly 100 words (the best of my knowledge). They're not related, and pretty much random, whatever strikes me at the moment. Fluff, angst, romance, parody, whatever. Same with pairings. You are warned.
A little drabble about Vincent and Shelke, talking at night on the roof, and Vincent has an epiphany. Not romance.
I. I Understand
Vincent sat on the roof, listening to Shelke speak of horrors all too familiar, her words like waves of the sea, eternity.
He gazed at the stars. We all have our fights, our triumphs, defeats. But they're ours. And at the end of the day, the rest of the world is apathetic. No one cares. Clarity dawned. And I don't give a damn, either.
"Vincent?"
He met her gaze, his red eyes closed doors to his heart, thoughts echoing through his mind. Finally: "I understand. Just remember hope." Then he turned away again and let cold black despair claim him.
