21: Hello peoples of the Interweb thingy! I bring you my first installation revamping my old stories. As I mentioned both in my profile and my [relatively] recent update to Season 2 revised, I am working on updating my older stories because both the quality of the writing as well as the characters could use some improvement. I have yet to decide if I'm going to keep the Sponsor shtick at the beginning and end of my updates to attempt to retain the original nature of my updates, but since technically this is an update of an update, there is no Sponsor shtick in this story. Anyways, as you may notice after rereading this prologue, there may be bits and pieces of the story that are different, or perhaps expanded on a little more. This is because, as I've mentioned, I have a better idea of timelines and characters than when I first started writing this series. I'm hopeful that this will be a successful endeavor and possibly rekindle my interest in updating D0: The Demonic Dozen. For those of you who are waiting for an "actual update" to Season 2 revised, fear not! Episode 13 is nearly done. I have to write 2-3 more scenes, proofread it, and send it off to another set of eyes to double check for any errors I might have missed. (Incidentally, I didn't have that kind of QC when I first started writing, which is another reason for the revamp.)
So, without further ado, let's go back to the story that started it all...but before that, just a reminder that I do not own Digimon.
The Lost Adventures of the Original DigiDestined part 1: The Satanmon Saga
Prologue: Origins
3 years before the story begins...
Location: The Digital World…
Lord Daemon screamed in wrath as he felt himself being pulled into the Negative Universe, the location where he would remain trapped for eternity. He and his fellow Demon Lords had been defeated at the hands of six holy warriors and his brethren had already been banished into their inescapable prisons. It seemed as though even the mighty Lucemon was no match for the six.
"No!" thought Daemon, indignantly, "it cannot end like this! The Demon Lords shall rise again!"
Concentrating, Daemon poured out the last of his strength into a burst of energy and sealed it into a nearby boulder. He reverted to his cloaked form, but he didn't care. The survival of the Demon Lords was now assured. With some of his power in the Digital World, he should be able to find ways of influencing events outside of his prison. It would take time and a lot of patience, something the Lord of Wrath did not have in abundance, but eventually Daemon would be able to free himself and the other Demon Lords.
"Fools!" thought Daemon, "you've sacrificed your lives for naught. We shall return!"
Laughing demonically, Daemon was pulled into the Negative Universe.
The six holy warriors collapsed after a long and harsh battle against the seven Demon Lords. These warriors gave their lives to seal away the evil demons within inescapable prisons. Their energy completely drained, their bodies begin to disintegrate. As they breathed their last breaths, the Digital World absorbed their essences.
Alphamon: the first of the Royal Knights, founder of the Royal Knight Academy, and the very embodiment of honor. His first pupil Dynasmon: the perfect example of unconditional loyalty. Kentaurosmon: another of Alphamon's star pupils and an individual of boundless inner strength. Justimon: though not a Royal Knight he is determined to fight for the cause of good. The beautiful and elegant Lotosmon: no kinder digimon has ever been born. Magnadramon: one of the Four Great Dragons and a bright light amongst the darkness. Honor, loyalty, strength, determination, kindness, and light: these characteristics defined the six warriors who rallied to battle the Demon Lords and gave their lives to protect the world they loved. Their essences traveled to the Primary Village, birthplace of all digimon, and fused with six Digieggs, which was symbolized by strange symbols that formed on the eggs: a sword, a crown, a heart filled with fire, an unwavering eye, an inverted teardrop, and an eight pointed star with a circle in the middle.
The Four Harmonious Ones had been keeping a close eye on the events transpiring on the battle field. These beings were the Guardians of the Digital World and served as protectors and allies to the forces of good. It was they who had formed the alliance of the six, and had entrusted them with the power of a Digicore to ensure victory. Now that the battle was over, there was much work to do. The four great beings gathered in a temple dedicated in their honor by the first civilization of the Digital World.
At this time, the members were: Griffinmon: the eldest member of the Sovereigns and the Gray Gryphon of the West, Falconmon: well respected amongst his peers, a mentor to Azulongmon, and the Orange Bird of the South, Ebonwumon: the double headed Scottish accented Black Tortoise of the North, and Azulongmon: a relatively newly minted Sovereign after the recent passing of Dramon several hundred years ago, a member of the Four Great Dragons, and the Azure Dragon of the East.
"My friends it is time for us to fulfill the prophesies of our ancestors," said Griffinmon, "Ebonwumon's respected predecessor, Turtmon, predicted this day upon his deathbed, and we know what we must do. Daemon's essence must be contained, and order must be restored to the Digital World."
The other three Sovereigns nodded, and began to concentrate, focusing on the contaminated boulder. They began glowing as they channeled their energy into their unique attributes. Griffinmon called upon his friendship and reliability, Ebonwumon brought forth his knowledge and sincereity, Falconmon delved into his courage and love, and Azulongmon summoned his hope. The rock began to glow in multicolored hues as the positive energy attempted to gain a hold over the Demon Lord's dark essence.
"Now, Azulongmon, channel your deceased comrade's light and we can undo this evil once and for all!" commanded Griffinmon.
Allowing his mind to broaden, Azulongmon touched the dying mind of Magnadramon, his fellow member of the Four Great Dragons, who offered him some of her light.
"Use it well, my friend," she said, as she disintegrated fully.
With the addition of Magnadramon's light, Azulongmon began glowing brighter than ever, and the boulder became shrouded in a bright white glow. The evil essence melted away in the face of the great powers, and the rock shrank into a small tablet with a lightning bolt symbol on it. Meanwhile, in Primary Village, another Digiegg was fused with this power and the lightning symbol appeared on it as well.
Worn out from the exertion, Griffinmon began panting heavily.
"My friends, behold the dangerous Crest of Power," he said, "although we contained the evil within that crest, it has not been fully eradicated. Being in Daemon's presence will cause the crest to revert to its true state, as the Crest of Darkness. As such, we must guard this crest carefully."
The others nodded.
"Ebonwumon and I shall retrieve the crest," said Griffinmon, "Falconmon, take Azulongmon and watch over the other dimension. I believe the Digital World is about to make a selection."
Location: Real World: Mars, PA just outside of Pittsburgh...
At the very same moment the six warriors disappeared, in the houses of George Helltower, Rachel Forest, Hannah Terazez, Dan Willams, and James Nightingale a sudden flash occurred. When the flash died down there was an egg at the foot of their beds. The eggs were larger than any bird indigenous to Earth and had patterns on them. Each one of the five eggs looked different. For now, the children slept on unaware of the events that had just transpired in their bedrooms. The next morning as each one woke up they saw the egg, and reacted accordingly. George examined every square inch of the egg and attempted to eat it. Rachel assumed that it was a new toy and started to play with it. Hannah first thought it was a volleyball and wondered how it got into her room. Dan hid it under his bed to wait for Easter. James tripped over it because it rolled off his bed during the night.
The following morning, Rachel called George.
"Hello?" he asked.
"Hi this is Rachel. May I speak to George?" she said.
"Speaking," he replied, trying to sound more mature than he was.
"George can you come over and look at something for me?" she asked.
"Sure thing, I'll be right over," he replied, and hung up the phone.
George left his house and biked over to Rachel's house. In truth, he could have walked there, but Rachel sounded like she was in a hurry, so he biked over to save time. Upon arriving he was greeted enthusiastically as Rachel showed him the egg that she found in her room that morning. When George saw it he looked confused.
"You too?" he asked quizzically.
"What?" asked Rachel, looking confused.
"Well", said George, "I found something very similar to that in my room this morning..."
"Must be some new kind of toy that our parents thought we'd appreciate." guessed Rachel.
"Maybe," said George, skeptically, "but I find it hard to believe that it's supposed to be a toy."
"Why?" asked Rachel.
"Because it serves no purpose, and toys usually have SOME purpose...I'll let you know if I find out anything else," replied George knowingly.
"Thanks George. I knew I could count on you" Rachel said smiling brightly. "Welcome," mumbled George awkwardly as he left.
As George rode home he began to think about the strange objects.
"What are they, and why do both Rachel and I have them?" he wondered.
Meanwhile, having met up in a local park, Dan and Jimmy were also debating the purpose of the eggs.
"I'm telling you they're just huge marbles" Dan was saying indignantly.
"No way", said Jimmy stubbornly, "they have to be bowling balls they are WAY to big to be marbles."
"But if they were bowling balls then they would have the holes to put your fingers in," countered Dan.
While those two argued Hannah was walking alone in the park. She was carrying her egg and wondering what purpose it could serve. Suddenly, a boy who was biking stopped right next to her.
"Where'd you get that?" he asked pointing to the egg.
"What concern is it of yours?" asked Hannah shyly.
"Well, it just so happens that I have one of those too, but I'm not quite sure how I got it or what it is," the boy explained.
"I see" replied Hannah shortly.
The boy slapped his forehead.
"Where're my manners? I forgot to introduce myself. I'm George Helltower, and I would like to know how and when you got that toy," he said, liking how mature he sounded.
"Alright, I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone or laugh," said Hannah blushing slightly.
"Okay," agreed George.
"I woke up this morning and found it lying there at the foot of my bed," she explained, "by the way, are you really George Helltower?"
"Yes I am," said George looking confused.
"I'm Hannah Terazez, maybe you remember me? We worked on an English project together last year," said Hannah quickly.
"I think I remember that," said George, "hang on there's someone I need to call." George walked to a nearby payphone and dialed Rachel's home phone from memory.
"Hello," said Rachel brightly.
"Rachel, it's George, would you please meet me at my house? I found out something else about the toys," he said.
"Sure thing George, I'll be over in ten minutes," she said, hanging up her phone and skipping out of her house.
George turned to Hannah.
"I'd appreciate it if you would also come over to my house," he said, still trying to sound mature.
"Ok, I'll be right over I just have to tell my mom where I'm going to be," she said.
"Fine," replied George.
Hannah sped off towards her house while George continued on his way to his house. He hadn't gone far when he heard the screams of Dan and Jimmy arguing about the eggs.
"It can't be a football, it's much too hard and it doesn't have the stitches!" Dan shouted.
"Well it can't be a basketball because it's an oval!" Jimmy yelled back.
"Man, you guys are really loud," complained George, "what are you even talking about anyways?"
"That's none of your business," said Dan looking at him oddly.
"Can I guess?" asked George.
Dan and Jimmy shrugged.
"You're talking about an egg shaped hard ball that has a funny design on it and is too large to be an egg of any known sort," surmised George.
"Yeah," said Jimmy nodding enthusiastically.
Dan elbowed him in the ribs.
"Alright Mr. Psychic, how'd you know?" he demanded.
"Because I got one too," said George taking a closer look at the pair, "hey aren't you Dan Williams?"
"That's right" said Dan raising an eyebrow.
"Then you must be his friend Jimmy Nightingale," concluded George.
"That's me" said Jimmy, smiling.
"I'm George Helltower, and I would like you two to come with me please," said George.
"Where would we go if we were to follow you?" Dan asked suspiciously.
"We would go to my house where, hopefully, we would figure out what these things are supposed to be," explained George.
Dan and Jimmy agreed to come and followed George to his house. When they arrived they saw Hannah and Rachel were already there waiting. George showed them into his room. He then explained the situation as he saw it.
"For some reason we were given these strange things, not everybody has one. In fact, I'm pretty sure that we are the only ones that do have it. I'm not sure what they are but—"
He was cut off by a noise that was issued from one of the objects. Suddenly they all began to crack. Out came five of the strangest creatures that the children had ever seen. They creatures immediately dissolved into beams of light and were gone.
"I think I know what they are now," said George, whose eyes had gone as wide as dinner plates, "those things were eggs, and not just any eggs, alien eggs. I think the aliens lost them last night while flying around the world and had no way to track them until they hatched."
A lively discussion, fueled mostly by adolescent imagination was sparked about the purpose of the alien's flight, but none of the five knew the true purpose of the eggs. They had been chosen. Chosen as warriors to fight in another world…the Digital World.
Location: The Digital World…
Throughout this time, Azulongmon and Falconmon were carefully observing the five children. Occasionally they would make comments to each other. After the events had transpired one turned to the other.
"Well Azulongmon, they've met for the first time," said Falconmon.
"Indeed Falconmon," said Azulongmon, "and from these humble beginnings will come the salvation of our world. I can't help but wonder, what about the other two Digiegg?"
"Their bearers must be too young at this point to rise to the challenge," replied Falconmon, "their time will come. In the meantime, let's keep watching as events unfold…"
21: Well now, that looks a little different, doesn't it? Although I haven't yet added character descriptions for the Martian Digidestined, rest assured that will happen in upcoming revampings. I did, however, significantly modify my initial personality of George to coincide with my newer views of his character development. He is no longer a know-it-all 5th grader whose vocabulary is superb, instead he is a more normal 5th grader, trying to act more mature that he really is, but is still slightly awkward around girls. At some point, I'll have to write character bios explaining my thought process of my characters, but initially, George was supposed to fill the roles of both Tai and Izzy, and as such was supposed to be a leader with knowledge to back himself up. Instead, in this incarnation, he'll be a lot more like Tai, but with his unique background helping him make decisions. There is a reason why George is trying so hard to act more mature than he is, but I'll get to it at a later point when I introduce George's parents (possibly in my rewrite of chapter one). In any case, I am rambling quite a bit, and that's taking away from time I could be using to finish writing chapter 13 of Season 2 revised, so I'm going to sign off here. Please review and let me know if you like the upgrade. Hopefully I'll be back with more revamps and updates soon.
