Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle

Not yet

A/N: I just watched the second Godzilla film on Netflix, and I'm upset by the loss. Here's my attempt to rectify that loss…and this is the one who does so.

As Haruo held onto Yuko's body, time seemed to stand still for a moment. Just enough for the young man to not notice the presence of the dark-skinned man behind them.

"Yuko Tani," he spoke; he could sense the fleeting lifeforce within her body that could no longer fight to live. "It's not your time to leave this world yet. If you go, Haruo will have no one left, so you can't give up on your life. Live on, Yuko. Live."

He approached the unconscious girl as a tear escaped her right eye. Reaching out to her face, he bypassed her helmet and caressed her cheek as his left hand glowed bright pink, unseen by Haruo. He had done things like this so many times, he was numb to this, but this time was different because this was a world where monsters weren't just real, they were massive, dangerous and unpredictable in ways that belonged only in fantasies. But so long as he could save this girl, there was still hope for the rest of the human race so long as Haruo still had someone to hold onto.

"Live, Yuko," he urged the girl as he faded away, and time resumed.

"Mmm…" Yuko moaned as she opened her eyes, seeing Haruo. "Haruo?"

"Yuko?" Haruo gasped. "You're okay!"

While she was still covered partially in the Nanometal, it was brittle and would break off with the slightest dusting.

"I…heard a voice," she told him. "They were telling me to live, that…it wasn't my time yet. They said you needed me. Is that true?"

"Yes, Yuko," he answered her, and quickly carried her away from the scene before Godzilla noticed them and attacked. "I need you."

Unseen by mortal and unnatural eyes native to the planet and foreign across the vastness of space, the dark man that restored Yuko to life watched as Godzilla walked away slowly after destroying the artificial behemoth that was Mechagodzilla City, the second form of Mechagodzilla, his synthetic doppelganger built to kill him. He might've proven himself much greater than his metallic look-alike, but this spiritual relation to all with souls could see that something was coming to challenge the great beast that was the Earth's greatest success and mistake.

"Mothra will rise again to protect the people like the phoenix rising from the ashes of defeat, stronger than ever," he expressed, "and the cosmic scourge that rivals only the essence of the Devil to the third power. It will be Godzilla's greatest challenge to fight for the future of the planet and try to survive to be a part of that future."

A/N: I feel better about the film now that I've written this. I hope many of you do, as well. Peace.
