A/N: In an attempt to kill my Writer's Block, I'm doing a 31 theme challenge for Halloween. I don't know how good these will be, but I need to write before I forget how. Hopefully there will be something decent in this set, and hopefully people will find something they like. The theme for this piece is Candy. One down, thirty to go!

Sweet Friendship

"Freak. More than a year apart and we're right back to our old Halloween routine."
The other two teens he was sandwiched between turned their heads to look up at him, lowering the candy they had been munching on.
"Are you saying that like it's a bad thing?" Kairi inquired, her tone light, neither judging or angry, merely curious, her lavender blue eyes peering up at him through blood red bangs, twirling the stick of the sucker she'd been eating between her fingers as she waited for his answer.
He hesitated a moment, suddenly unsure of his own feelings on the matter. "Yes. No. I don't know."
A chuckle escaped Sora's lips as he pushed himself out of the side of the couch, wrappers falling like silver confetti with the movement. "Still can't make up your mind on some things," he observed, sky colored orbs considering the pile of sweets in Riku's trick or treat tote. "I, for one, wouldn't miss this for the world. Some things really shouldn't change, and this is one of them."
Once, only a year or two ago Riku probably would have retorted with something sarcastic and biting, ridiculing this as something mushy and meaningless. Now, however, was different. He knew that Sora was right, and somehow that was comforting.
Still, he couldn't help throw out a remark with a bit of his old spirit. "So you're saying we're going to be this when we're sixty with dentures and wheelchairs? How demented is that going to be- some spikey headed old man shuffling around with all the little kids looting candy?"
Kairi groaned and laughed at the same time, covering her face with her hands at the same time Sora opened his mouth to retort. Any words were lost as Riku stuffed a MilkyWay mini candy bar into his mouth, causing the brunette to only make a strangled muffled sound.
"Saw you eying that. Figured I might as well give it up before you stole it for yourself."
Managing to swallow the chocolate and caramel, Sora pulled a face. "I wasn't gonna steal it- but besides, why should it matter how old we are, as long as we enjoy doing something together, the three of as like it's always been?"
Sea green eyes sparkled in mirth. "So you're saying that yes, you are going to dress up in a bed sheet when you're an old man?"
Before either boy could speak again, Kairi placed a hand against their chests, pushing them both back down on the couch. "I don't want to hear anymore," their female companion told them with mock seriousness. "It's something we'll figure out when we reach the ripe old age of sixty, all right? For now, let's just enjoy being together on Halloween again."
The boys exchanged glances, and fell silent as they returned to the task of making a dent in their candy pile. After all, why argue when there were sweets to be had and friends to spend time with?
