I can't believe how long it has been since I have written anything. I just want to apologize to all of my readers for all of my stories for the long wait. I kind of went on a hiatus for a while but I'm back and I feel ready than ever to get all of my stories finished as well as write new stories that I've recently thought of. This story in particular I've been wanting to do for a really long time. About a year or so ago I attempted to write this and it was so terrible. I literally cringed when I read my old writing. I had a much better idea in mind where I wanted to take this story anyway so I decided to rewrite it and I'm so much happier with this version than the original version. I hope everyone enjoys this chapter and again I'm so sorry for the wait on my other stories. I'm already working on new chapters for them!

Chapter One – The Day She Left His Life
Amy Rose watched as it began lightly snowing once more outside the window of a little ice cream parlor located in the Central District of Station Square. Her cheeks were a rosy pink from the cold air outside and she wore an excited smile on her face. She continued watching the flurries of snowflakes fluttering softly in the air for a couple more minutes before returning her attention back onto the front door of the ice cream parlor. He wasn't here yet. She took in a deep breath and began nervously fiddling around with her red headband. She was still early but her anticipation was making the wait just about unbearable. She had been waiting for this day to come for so long she almost couldn't believe it was really happening. Today was the day that she and Sonic were going to have their very first date. A light blush filled her soft cheeks as she thought back to when he had accepted her proposal. She was so shocked at first she almost didn't believe it but he stood there with a genuine smile on his handsome face and even told her that it sounded like it would be fun. She was getting giddy just thinking about it.
"Miss, would you like to order?" A young porcupine in a wedged cap and uniform asked her, suddenly taking her out of her trance.
"Is it alright if I wait? I'm meeting someone here soon," she told him politely.
"Sure, that's fine," he told her. "Just let me know when you're ready," he said.
"Thank you!" Amy said sweetly. Her sweet smile and bubbly happiness was contagious and the waiter found himself smiling too as he walked back towards the counter.
Ten painfully long minutes passed on by before the sound of the little bell on the front door jingled. Amy quickly glanced over at the door hopeful only to be disappointed as a couple walked inside instead. She let out a sigh.
"Sonic should be here any minute now," she thought to herself, remaining positive.
She watched as the cute couple held hands as they took their seats and she couldn't help herself but imagine her and Sonic doing that too. Her cheeks flushed. Maybe this was going to be the day he finally confessed his love for her. She always knew that he was very shy when it came to expressing his feelings which was why he had always turned her down or ran away from her whenever she had asked him to go out on a date but today was different. Today their relationship was going to move onto the next level and Amy felt excited and nervous. She wanted everything to go perfectly.
"What if he tries to kiss me?" she thought to herself bashfully.
Within no time at all, twenty minutes had passed right on by and there was still no sign from her cobalt hero. Amy was beginning to feel doubtful and worried. He wouldn't stand her up would he? It wouldn't be the first time…but today was different. This time around he was the one who made the plans for them to meet here and he said it sounded like it would be fun…why wouldn't he come? Amy began to tug at the cuffs of her red coat uncomfortably.
"No…he's definitely coming," she tried to reassure herself. "He promised he would."
She tried to tell herself that there was a reason as to why he was running late. He was a hero after all. He was always busy going off on different adventures, saving the world, and helping others. He probably got held up by something…but he'll be here. She just had to be patient and wait for him. She would always wait for him. She loved him and she really wanted him to know that today. She tried to distract herself from the negative thoughts. Perhaps he was running late because he was getting her a surprise. Any minute now Sonic will arrive with a bouquet of beautiful flowers he hand-picked himself. A small hopeful smile appeared on her muzzle at the thought. It would be so romantic if that was the case. She knew he was the shy type so maybe he was running late because he was nervous.
Two whole hours have passed now and Amy was beginning to lose all of her hope that he will still show up but even so she still waited for him. The curls in her soft pink quills were beginning to become undone and she felt the all too familiar feeling of disappointment as sadness began to fill her heart. She felt her tears beginning to brim her jade colored eyes but she fought hard to keep them from falling. There was still the chance that he could show up and she didn't want him to see her crying. The waiter continued making ice cream at the front counter often glancing over at the now dejected pink hedgehog. He felt sorry for her. It was obvious she had been stood up by whoever she was waiting for and yet she still waited for them.
"Poor girl," he thought to himself.
Amy still didn't want to leave. He could still come. He promised! Why would he make plans to be with her then not show up? Amy just didn't understand. There had to be a good reason. Sonic was too kind of a person to just break her heart on purpose. She was so lost in her thoughts she hardly noticed the waiter approach her table. He looked at her with an apologetic expression on his face.
"Miss…you've been waiting an awful long time…" he started, trying to be as delicate as he could.
He heard her sniffle and she looked up at him with moistened jade eyes. "I know…" she said quietly. "But he'll be here! He promised me he would be here!" she exclaimed, fighting back her tears.
The waiter frowned and bit his bottom lip. She was so dedicated to this person. "Would you like to have some ice cream?" he offered her. "It's on the house," he said, trying to cheer her up.
Amy frowned and shook her head. "No…b-but thank you…" she managed, wiping a loose tear that escaped from her eye.
"Alright…If you ever change your mind my offer still stands," he told her before walking away.
Hours continued to pass by but still Amy waited hopeful that her hero would show up and make things right. But he never did. Amy stared vacantly out the window and watched the dreary scenery taking place outside as tears continuously rolled down her wet cheeks. The worsening weather outside matched the way it felt inside her heart. She quickly wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her coat and let out a shaky sigh. She took in a deep breath as she looked at the clock hanging on the wall. It was already six 'o'clock in the evening. She looked down sadly at the table realizing now that Sonic was not coming. For whatever reason, he never showed up to meet her. Amy was devastated. Out of all the times he had stood her up…this time hurt her the most.
"Why do you always have to break my heart Sonic the Hedgehog?" she asked herself sadly.
"Miss…I'm sorry…but we're going to be closing soon. I heard there's going to be a very bad snow storm tonight," the waiter announced from behind the counter.
Amy didn't say a word. She quietly put on her red mittens and wrapped her blue scarf around her neck before getting up from her table. "T-Thanks for letting me stay…" she said to the waiter in a low, shaky voice.
"Are you going to be alright?" he asked the pink hedgehog in concern.
She nodded not making eye contact, fighting back her tears. Before he could say anything else to her she was out the door.
Amy quickly ran away from the ice cream parlor, her hands over her face as she began to sob inconsolably. Her heart was broken. She had never felt more hurt than she did at that moment. The weather was beginning to worsen now and she was nowhere near the outskirts to the city to get home. She ran blindly as it began snowing harder, avoiding the few pedestrians who were walking hurriedly to get home. It was starting to get dark.
"I've got to get home…" she said to herself in an uneven voice.
After a couple of minutes of walking Amy finally made it to the crosswalk that would lead her home. She could see the countryside pathway outside the city limits that led to her small cottage home. All Amy wanted to do was get home and snuggle inside her warm woolen blankets and cry. She pressed the crosswalk button and waited for the light to turn green, signaling that it was safe to cross. She shivered and rubbed her arms up and down desperate for some warmth.
Why did Sonic always have to hurt her? What was she doing wrong? She just didn't understand it. Maybe this was a sign, a sign that she and him weren't meant to be together. The very thought of that brought more pain to her heart and caused more tears to fill her jade colored eyes. She knew deep within her heart that even if he never returned her feelings she would always love him. The crosswalk light turned green and Amy began to quickly walk across. It was getting harder to see and the cold air whipped right through her petite body. She was more than halfway across when she suddenly heard the loud screeching of tires against snow and ice. She looked up in alarm and was blinded by the bright headlights of an oncoming vehicle. Everything happened so fast.
The next thing Amy was able to comprehend was that she was lying on the ground in great pain. Her head was pounding and it was very hard to breath. Tears quickly escaped her jade colored eyes as the pain began to become unbearable. She tried her hardest to move her body but found she could not. It was as though she no longer had any control over it. A crimson liquid began to quickly stain the white snow behind her head at a fast rate. She started to choke. Breathing was becoming more and more difficult with each short inhale she took. She was afraid. She started coughing up blood and the world around her was beginning to spin. She actually felt herself starting to slip further and further away. Amy could hear voices around her but could not make out what was being said. Everything was beginning to go dark now and Amy knew that she was going to die. She only wished she could have seen her friends one last time. More tears escaped her eyes; she wished she could have seen him one last time…She knew now that she would never be able to see anyone ever again. It was too late. Darkness completely consumed her now. Amy took in one last short breath before her eyes grew dull and lifeless.
Sonic pushed himself to run as fast as he possibly could to the ice cream parlor. He knew his chances of still finding Amy there were slim but he wanted to try anyway. The terrible weather was really slowing him down. Running had become much more dangerous as his vision was obscured by the falling snow and the harsh winds mercilessly stung at his eyes. Guilt ate away at his heart as he ran. He never meant to be so late. In fact, he never intended to be late at all. He even left early that morning in order to see her. This was not how he wanted things to turn out. A deep frown tugged at his lips as his mind wandered back onto the day he had accepted her proposal. She looked so happy and excited when he had said yes. Her eyes were shining brightly and she pulled him into one of the tightest hugs she had ever given him which caused him to feel even more flustered than he already did. Sonic let out a sigh. He didn't even want to think about how she may look and feel now. He was tired of always disappointing her and unintentionally making her cry. He hated making her cry. He suddenly saw the city of Station Square come into his view and he pushed himself harder to run faster. He could only hope she would still be there otherwise he'd have to check the next place she would most likely be.
He ran down the snowy streets of Station Square dodging the few cars and people that were still out and about. His hope of still finding her waiting for him at the ice cream parlor was beginning to falter as he quickly realized just how late it really was. It was already past sundown and it was beginning to grow darker and colder as the snow continuously came down harder. He turned the corner and a familiar building came into view. He finally made it. He was very late but still, he made it nonetheless. He burst through the front door, hopeful he'd find her there waiting for him. He wanted to make things right and apologize to her. He looked around quickly, his emerald eyes studying every table and booth in the parlor only to find them all empty. Disappointment filled his heart. Of course she wouldn't have waited this long for him. It was foolish for him to even think she would. He couldn't blame her in the least. He was so caught up in his thoughts he failed to notice the startled waiter standing behind the counter.
"I'm sorry sir, but we're closed," the waiter said, suddenly grabbing Sonic's attention.
"Oh, I'm sorry…" Sonic apologized, running a hand through his unruly blue quills. "I was supposed to meet a friend…and I was hoping she would still be here…" he said with a frown.
The waiters' eyes grew wide in realization. This was the young man that that girl had been waiting for. He didn't stand her up after all. He sure did have a terrible concept of time though. He stared at the blue hedgehog for a moment and couldn't help but notice his appearance. He looked like a mess. He stood there panting heavily, with wet matted fur and bloodshot eyes. Did he run all the way here? Sonic was about to turn and leave the parlor when the waiters' voice suddenly filled his sensitive ears.
"Wait!" the waiter exclaimed. "There was a young lady who was here waiting for someone. She was waiting for a really long time. Could you be the young man she was waiting for?" he asked.
Sonic's emerald eyes grew wide and hopeful. "Yes," he said quickly, rushing to the front counter. "Do you know how long ago it was when she left?" he asked.
The waiter nodded. "She left almost an hour ago but you might still be able to catch her," he told him.
Sonic nodded, feeling encouraged. "Thanks!" he said quickly, giving the waiter a small wave.
"Anytime," the waiter replied. He watched as Sonic dashed back outside into the snowy weather and took off down one of the sidewalks.
"I hope he's able to catch up with her," he said to himself, picking up a small rag and resuming cleaning the countertop.
Sonic quickly made his way down the sidewalk he knew led to the outskirts of town, knowing it was Amy's usual route. He wasn't too far behind. She only just left. He could still catch up with her before she made it home. As he made it to the crosswalk he stopped himself abruptly. Up ahead he saw police cars, ambulances, and a small crowd of people standing beside a car that was parked in the middle of the street. The headlights were still on and the windshield wipers continuously moved back and forth to push away the falling snow. He watched as police officers talked to someone who was hysterically crying. Sonic felt a heavy heart as he witnessed the scene. There must have been an accident.
He took one step forward and felt something hard crunch underneath his shoe. He lifted his foot up off the snow in confusion and glanced down to see a red headband. He bent down and gingerly picked it up and stared at it for a moment. The moment the red headband came into his view he immediately thought of Amy. A sudden feeling of dread began to plague him and he felt his heart beginning to race. He gripped the headband tighter, looking back up at the tragic scene up ahead of him and shook his head slowly in denial. No, it couldn't be. It was just a mere coincidence. She probably dropped it while she was heading home. He stood there for a good minute trying hard to be reassured that she was safe and sound but as his emerald eyes continued to watch the scene in front of him, he felt his hands beginning to shake. He was now consumed with worry and uncertainty. He needed to find Amy. Seeing her would be the only way he can feel at ease.
Sonic began to walk across the street in a quickened pace, never once taking his eyes off the scene in front of him. He was closer now, close enough to see the crimson stains in the white snow and hear the muffled murmurs of the people surrounding the area. His face had gone pale and he could feel his heart hammering hard in his chest. He continued to tell himself that he was jumping to conclusions and that she was safe and he was worrying for nothing, but a small part of him knew something was wrong. He wanted to run. He didn't want to see the tragic scene anymore. All he wanted to see was Amy. He wanted to see her beautiful jade colored eyes, her sweet and welcoming smile, hear her lovely voice but most of all…he wanted to know that she was okay. Sonic willed himself to run away, to turn away and not look back but his body felt numb and ignored any attempts to move.
"I-I didn't see her!" the person talking to the police officers cried. "It was hard to see...a-and I-I lost control of my car…" he sobbed. "I'm so sorry!"
The officers tried to calm the man down as a medic checked him over for any minor injuries. He was wretched with guilt and was horrified to what he had unintentionally done.
"I heard the crash and saw her lying motionless on the ground. She looked pretty bad," one of the bystanders said to someone standing next to them with teary eyes. "It was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen," she said.
"She looked so young too…" another person said, shaking their head slowly.
"Do you think she's going to be okay?" another woman asked.
"I don't know…It doesn't look good," someone said grimly.
"She was taken to the hospital already?" another person asked.
"Yes," the woman who witnessed the accident said. "She'll be in my prayers tonight."
Sonic had heard enough. His grip on the red headband was so tight he almost made himself draw blood. He quickly took off running in the opposite direction, his heart beating faster than he could run. His mind still tried to make a feeble attempt at denying the possibility that the girl in the accident was Amy. He didn't want to believe it. Yet despite that, his feet were leading him straight to Station Square Memorial Hospital instead of in the direction of Amy's home. He entered the hospital in a rush running past the sliding double doors and dodging past doctors and nurses who were walking quickly through the halls. He made his way to the front desk feeling breathless. A woman looked up from her computer at him in surprise.
"Sonic the Hedgehog?" she questioned aloud, still surprised to see the cobalt hero in the hospital lobby.
"Yes," he breathed shakily. "Is there a girl by the name of Amy Rose here?" he questioned.
"Please say no…" he mentally pleaded to himself.
The receptionist took a moment to check the computer's registry and bit her bottom lip. Sonic tapped his fingers uneasily on the front desk as he nervously watched her search for Amy's name. His worry only grew worse and he felt a small lump forming in the back of his throat when he noticed a small frown appearing on her face. The receptionist looked away from the computer screen and back up at the blue hedgehog. She noticed the red headband clutched tightly in his hand and her frown deepened.
"…Yes," she finally said hesitantly. "It seems…she arrived a little under an hour ago…and is currently in the ICU," she told him as gently as she could.
Sonic's emerald eyes grew wide and he felt a sudden pang in his chest. This couldn't possibly be happening. He was having a difficult time trying to keep his composure and he looked at the receptionist feeling a mixture of hurt and disbelief.
"No," he said shaking his head. "That can't be right! There has to be some kind of mistake!" he exclaimed.
The receptionist paused for a moment and looked up at him with an apologetic expression. "…I'm afraid it isn't…" she told him, moving the computer monitor slightly so he could see the screen.
Sure enough, on the black screen, Sonic saw Amy's name within a list of new arrivals on the computer's database. Sonic stared at her name long and hard for a minute as though the green text betrayed him.
"I'm sorry," the receptionist said softly.
Sonic just stood there in a stupor, his eyes never leaving Amy's name on the computer screen.
"Why don't you have a seat," the receptionist said, pointing towards some chairs in the waiting room. "As soon as there is an update on Miss Rose's status a doctor will come out and speak with you," she told him sympathetically.
Sonic was taken out of his trance when she spoke and he looked at her with a deep frown on his face. Without a word he walked away from the front desk and slowly made his way towards the waiting room chairs. His heart was pounding painfully in his chest now as growing fear and worry began to consume him. He wasn't sure he would be able to sit down.
"This can't be happening…" he said out loud to himself in a low voice, pacing back and forth.
Sonic felt as though someone had just knocked the wind right out of him. His heart continued to race as though he had been running for miles and a deepening guilt began to plague at his heart. This was his entire fault. He glanced down at the red headband in his shaky hands. If he hadn't been late this would have never happened. He shook his head feeling angry with himself and laughed humorlessly. If he hadn't accepted her proposal she would still be safe. It was as though fate had played a cruel and heartless joke on him. When he finally decided to face his feelings instead of always running away from them this is what happens. It was as though it were a sign. A sign that the two of them were not meant to be together. Sonic heaved a heavy sigh and finally collapsed into one of the waiting room chairs. He placed the red headband in his lap and leaned over putting his head in his hands. He needed to try and stay calm.
Minutes turned into hours as Sonic continued to wait impatiently for any word on Amy. He felt like he was slowly going out of his mind feeling sick with worry and guilt. Why was it taking so long? During his long wait he found a payphone and decided to inform Tails about the current situation. Sonic felt bad telling him, noticing how upset Tails sounded. He glanced over at the sliding glass doors and saw the terrible weather outside. Streets were closed and emergency curfews were issued as the snow storm only seemed to worsen. It was probably going to be a long while before his friends would be able to reach the hospital. Sonic looked around the hospital uncomfortably as he watched patients coming and going, doctors and nurses rushing about, and others waiting just like him for news on their loved ones. He glanced down at his red sneakers and stared distantly at them, his mind elsewhere.
Memories of Amy continuously plagued his mind all night as he waited and his growing guilt only made him feel sicker. His stomach churned in unease. It shouldn't be taking this long. The longer he waited the more uneasy he felt. He couldn't stand it anymore. He wanted to see her. He wanted to know that she was okay. Another sigh escaped his lips. Sonic felt like a complete failure. He should have been there to protect Amy. He was a hero, he was her hero and he was not there for her when she had needed him the most. He shook his head feeling ashamed and placed his hands over his face. He was feeling exhausted but he could not rest until he knew Amy would be alright. Whenever he found himself beginning to doze off he was haunted by images of her beautiful face, her sweet loving smile, her gorgeous jade colored eyes…
"Is there someone here for a Miss Amy Rose?" a sudden voice asked.
Sonic removed his hands from his face and looked up to see a tall man wearing blue hospital scrubs. Upon hearing Amy's name he immediately shot up from his seat and approached the doctor. He felt his heart beginning to race and his hands became clammy as apprehension began to overwhelm him.
"Yes, is she alright?" Sonic asked apprehensively, his expression soft and vulnerable.
The doctor paused for a moment before speaking. "I think you should sit down," he said, his expression grim.
Sonic's face grew pale. He didn't like the expression the doctor was giving him. A feeling of dread began to fill his heart and he wordlessly sat back down in his chair, afraid to hear what the doctor was going to tell him.
"Please Amy, please be alright…" he pleaded to himself.
The doctor sat down in a chair beside him and let out a tired sigh. "I don't know an easy way to say this," he said, looking up at the cobalt hedgehog.
"When Miss Rose first arrived here…things weren't looking too good. She suffered substantial injuries to the back of the head and was suffering from internal bleeding," the doctor stated as gently as he could.
Sonic's emerald eyes fell to the floor and a sad, troubled expression appeared on his usually carefree face. He began fiddling with his fingers nervously and the lump in his throat returned as he felt a pain in his chest once more. He didn't want to hear anymore.
When he didn't answer the doctor continued. "She was under surgery for almost ten hours…" he paused for a moment and gave the dejected hedgehog beside him a small reassuring look. "She's stable right now and no longer in the ICU," he reassured him.
Sonic lifted his head up and looked at the doctor feeling a small amount of hope. "So…she's going to be okay…?" he asked in a low, sad voice.
He looked and sounded as vulnerable as a small child. The doctor looked over at Sonic and frowned slightly. "Yes and no," he said, holding up a clipboard with written documents on it that he had been carrying. Sonic looked over at the doctor in worry and confusion.
"Miss Rose is no longer in critical condition and will make a full recovery…however…she has fallen into a prolonged state of unconsciousness. She has been unconscious for almost ten hours," the doctor explained.
Sonic looked at the doctor with wide eyes. "But she'll wake up soon…right?" he asked in worry.
"There's honestly no way of knowing when or if she'll ever come out of it," the doctor told him grimly.
Sonic felt his heart suddenly stop. "If?" he asked, feeling his stomach beginning to churn in unease.
The doctor nodded solemnly. He handed Sonic the clipboard so he could look at what he had written down.
"When a person falls into a comatose state there is a series of tests that we do to test their level of consciousness. There are many different forms of comas, some worse than others. Sometimes a person will be partially conscious and sometimes we will put someone into a self-induced coma in order to help them heal from their injuries…" the doctor began to explain.
Sonic's eyes quickly looked over at the words written on Amy's hospital forms as he listened to the doctor's words.
"We did a series of tests to see what level of consciousness Miss Rose may be in…We test to see how she'll respond to light sensitivity and even pain," he explained. "Unfortunately…she failed to show any responsiveness to any of the tests we had given her…"
Sonic found himself overcome with emotion as he tried to digest everything the doctor was telling him. He took in a shaky breath and put his head in his hands, closing his moistened emerald eyes.
"I'm terribly sorry…" the doctor said apologetically.
"C-Can I see her…?" Sonic asked, almost inaudibly.
The doctor smiled sadly and put his hand on Sonic's shoulder. "Of course you can…" he said.
The doctor began leading Sonic down a long narrow hallway, passing by other nurses and doctors walking in a rush in almost every direction. They passed by stretchers, other patients in their rooms, and other reception areas. Sonic hung his head low feeling a heavy heart. He tried his hardest to suppress his raw emotions that were beginning to surface. He was overwhelmed.
"We moved Miss Rose to a more permanent room where she will be more comfortable," the doctor explained as he guided Sonic through the labyrinth of hallways. Sonic inwardly winced when he heard the word permanent.
For the first time Sonic lacked his confidence. As much as he wanted to see Amy and be by her side he was also afraid. He was afraid to see her in her current state. He honestly wasn't sure if he could handle it. She was in this predicament all because of him. They turned another corner and began walking down a much quieter hallway. Sonic could see patients young and old resting in their beds as he walked by. They suddenly stopped in front of a door and Sonic felt a lump forming in his throat.
The doctor gave him a soft, reassuring smile. "I'll leave the two of you alone for a while," he said. He patted Sonic on the shoulder before turning and walking away.
Sonic stood in front of the closed door feeling paralyzed. This was it, the moment of no return. He took in a deep breath, placed his hand on the door knob and slowly opened the door. He took a quiet step forward into the darkened room and could hear the steady beeps coming from a heart monitor. He swallowed thickly as he took another small step forward and quietly closed the door behind him. He slowly looked up from where he stood and his emerald orbs fell onto the girl he had been looking for. A muffled whimper escaped his lips involuntarily the moment he laid eyes on her. There she was lying in a small bed surrounded by machines that were hooked up to her. She had an oxygen mask on over her nose and Sonic watched as her chest rose and fell at a steady pace from the other side of the room. He slowly approached her uneasily, his eyes never leaving her. As he got closer to her, his heart sank and his emerald eyes glistened. He could see bandages wrapped securely around her head and a cast on her left arm. Her face was black and blue from the many bruises that covered her petite body and her usually rosy pink fur was now a pale almost lifeless color.
Sonic practically collapsed into the chair by her bedside, unable to take his eyes off of her. He sat in the chair silently for a few minutes feeling at a complete loss. It hurt just to look at her. He could barely take it. He suddenly felt the foreign sensation of a tear rolling down his cheek and he wiped it away quickly feeling ashamed. Amy was in this condition because of him. He could never forgive himself for this. He took in a shaky breath of air and averted his gaze onto Amy's red headband clutched tightly in his hands. He felt his composure beginning to crumble. He fought hard to control the raw emotions that were quickly surfacing. He gently placed her headband on a nearby table and moved himself closer to her bedside. He slowly reached for her small hand, careful not to touch the IV attached to her arm and gave her hand a firm squeeze. It disturbed him how cold and limp her hand felt in his.
Another loose tear escaped his eye against his will. "…Amy…" he whispered weakly, his voice uneven.
It was becoming increasingly more difficult to fight back the tears that were now threatening his emerald eyes.
He inhaled sharply. "I-I'm sorry…I'm so sorry!" he suddenly cried, unable to fight his tears any longer.
He laid his head down on her bed feeling defeated and his shoulders shook as he began to completely break down. For the first time in Sonic's life he began sobbing inconsolably.
