Chapter 1: A Patrol through Gilneas

There she stood watching her mother's rooms from her quarters on the little ring of Undercity, which overlooked all the districts. She was making sure no one was a threat to the Dark Lady, Sylvanas Windrunner, "The Banshee Queen".

Commander Shedel of Undercity certainly preferred the "Commander" title over her other title and the thought still made her sigh. Not only was she the Commander of the Undercity Army but, also, the Princess of Undercity, much to her dismay. She hated it when her mother forced her to go to the balls, hoping a marriage contract would be in order, but anyone who showed interest in her regretted it later. She didn't want to marry someone because they wanted her for her title and bloodline; her deepest wish was that someone would love her for who she was rather than a title.

She went to collect Persephone, her loyal green skeletal warhorse, from the stables to go to the ruined city of Gilneas. She knew there was no reason to go there but she told her mother that if one Gilnean remained they would return. She did not hate the Gilnean's as her mother did, so she started leaving the Undercity through the sewers to avoid the commoners at the main gate of her home.

She urged Persephone forward, running through what was left of the Tirisfal Glades and into Silverpine Forest; stopping at the sepulcher to rest Persephone and eat lunch. After she finished she mounted back up and continued on her way. Later that evening, she arrived at the Greymane Wall, when it started to rain. When she got in the city itself and dismounted her horse in front of the abandoned Inn. She walked Persephone to the back of the Inn and removed her saddle and told her steed she would return in the morning.

She walked up the stairs of the Inn and sat by the fire. After putting on some dry clothes, she put her Green Fel Armor down and started polishing it, so it wouldn't rust. It certain would be a royal pain to go back to Hellfire Peninsula to collect Fel Iron Ore to craft into bars, just to create an armor to replace the rusted one. She looked at the clock above the fireplace of the abandoned Inn deciding that she would get up early; since she had a long ride ahead of her to get to the Emberstone Mine. She hated that place, which was odd considering she was a miner and blacksmith when her duties as Commander and Princess weren't in the way. Once she finished polishing her armor she forced herself up the stairs of the Inn as she prepared herself for bed. Her last thought before sleep claimed her was, where can I find someone who loves me for me?

Shedel woke early the next morning as planned; she ate the delicious corn bread in her pack and had a nice glass of milk. Shortly after she finished eating she went to saddle Persephone up for the ride to Emberstone Mine. The ride there was as annoying as she remembered it, after all, she didn't scout Gilneas often because of the rain, but she had planned this trip when she heard her mother was planning a ball hoping her daughter would find that lucky someone. To her, all the men of the horde, no matter the race, were dirty rats because they only wanted her for the damn title of Princess of Undercity. She sighed deeply wishing there was a man out there who would love her for being her and the kickass Commander of Undercity that thought made her smile.

She arrived at Emberstone Mine around mid-day, so she climbed down from her faithful mount Persephone. She took out her Brutal Greatsword and started to enter the mine, while walking through it, she realized that there were a bedroll and a little campfire all the way in the back of the mine. This only meant that a Gilnean or another member of the Alliance was in the city or one of the local abandoned towns. She had to tell them to leave without getting herself killed, of course. Shedel ran outside and removed her sword and mounted Persephone and took off to Gilneas City because there were more houses for hiding.

Shedel made it in Gilneas City around mid-day. She slowed her faithful mount to a trot. She felt like she was being watched. She pulled out her sword and placed it on the ground, representing no harm would come to the intruder in the city. She waited and waited and nothing happened. She decided to move over to a sidewalk so she could get out of the rain. As she sat down on the ground she saw something move in the shadows and that was when she began to worry.
