Fear

Tom looked around chaotic before proceeding to the table where Peyton and Kaz. "Hey Peyton, Hey, Kaz," he greeted. "Where's Sarah?" he asked concerned. Peyton and Kaz looked at each other. "Well…we were on a scan quest for this battle gear that permanently raises courage…. and all of a sudden, she ran off," they explained.

Tom nodded and got up from the table to look for her. He walked to the transport pad and chose his location. "I hope she's okay," he thought to himself.

Sarah looked around at her surroundings. It was so peaceful and nice, unlike some weird temple that Kaz and Peyton had dragged her to. She looked out across the lake and at a beautiful castle perched on a cliff. "I wonder what they're doing now." Sarah thought to herself. "They probably don't care too much… although I doubt they're happy with me for making them lose the battle gear." Sarah shuddered. There had been a test to see if you were truly worthy for the battle gear, which, of course, Peyton and Kaz had chosen her to take. It presented you with your worst fear and then you had to conquer it. She had run off the moment it had been presented to her, scared of it actually coming true. Now she felt scarred for life.

Tom looked around for a certain blonde friend of his. Lately he had been feeling something weird; he constantly had the urge to kiss or hug Sarah. "Come on, Sarah, please be here," he whispered to himself. He heard a quiet sob all of a sudden. Deciding to investigate, he followed the sound of it.

Hiding behind the tall red grass, was Sarah crying. "Hey, Sarah, you okay?" he asked concerned.

Startled Sarah stood up and started brushing away her tears. "I'm fine, Tom" she lied.

"You're lying, Sarah, I can tell," he said shaking his head. He hated seeing her like this, when ever she cried or was sad he felt horrible.

"Then why did you even bother asking me?!" Sarah exclaimed.

"To see, how bad it is… if you lied it really is a big deal," he responded back. Sarah sat back down and Tom joined her.

"Sarah, what's wrong?" he whispered in her ear. Just the thought of it scared Sarah, and she started to cry silently. Noticing this, Tom pulled her tighter to his chest.

Finally Sarah spoke, "Tom, if you really want to know ….then I'll tell you." Tom nodded his head. "Before the vault, you had to take some test of some sort and prove your worthiness. Kaz and Peyton had chosen me to take the test….a-and… it was horrible!" At the last part she buried her head deeper into his chest.

"Wait, so basically it presents you with your worst fear and you have to conquer it?" he asked.

Sarah mumbled a yes.

Tom lifted her chin up so they could see eye to eye. He asked "What is your worst fear?"

Sarah just shook her head. "I- I c-c-can't say." She finally stuttered out.

Tom just looked her in the eyes, staring deeply into the teal eyes of the one her was now sure he loved.

"Sarah, please, I –I love you" he pleaded. Sarah looked at him awestruck. She smiled and hugged him.

Stroking her hair, he asked once more about her worst fear.

Sarah looked away and said so lowly he could barely hear it, "My worst fear was losing you, to death or to that stupid Shinwan."

"Sarah," he said looking her in the eyes, "you'll never lose me... I'll always love and be with you, no matter what."

The two got up and headed back to Peyton and Kaz. Sarah grinned; she now knew that she could face her fears with Tom by her side.
