Disclaimer: Don't own anything, even the books. That collection belongs to my mum's library. I bought the 3rd movie, so I guess I own something besides my OCs

Summary: What if Joyce had lived and married "little" Fred? Epistolary (letter) story between characters during ROI. Some not in that time's speech for 3 year olds and I'm not on par with LMM: I'm trying. Kinda short but will get longer.

You're Like Coming Home

Letters from Home:

"Letters for you boys!" The captain shouted. Walter, Jem, Shirley and Fred sat up from their binks and rushed to retrieve their precious news. Some addresses were penned in childish handwriting while others were elegant. No matter how the French lines bloodied their bodies and / or souls, letters always refreshed them.

"Mother sent us several." Jem observed.

Fred decided to open the most ink stained one first.

Daddy, when are you coming home? Gwandma says it's almost over. Gwandpa's gone.

Lwove you!

Darling, I had to let her practice writing. Mother is a great help- we're staying with her and Dad until it's over. Rilla's a big help. We've been putting a Red Cross together and all the women are busy sewing. Dad's off on another case of influenza, so I'm biding my time until he gets back- we're celebrating his birthday tonight.

Your Darling Joyce ( and Aubrey).

Walter paged through Una's letter with satisfaction, telling of day to day life with the church, her father and everyone else. The letter he most wanted to read was Rilla's.

Why does this silly war go on? I bought a hat the other day and Mother rebuked me! It's such a darling little thing- all velvety and nice. I shan't spoil it. Mother says we're kindred spirits, and I miss our times in Rainbow Valley. Kens' leaving in a few months. Does the Piper come for you yet?

Your Rilla- my -Rilla.

P.S. Why can't they just start calling me Bertha? After all, It's my real name. No wonder we get along so well; we're named after those grandparents.
