Stargazer
She gazed at the stars, thinking about the conversation she'd just had with the rest of them. It was absolutely a conversation that had had her blushing and made her very uncomfortable. She let out a sigh, her cheeks were still burning red. The girl closed her soft chocolate brown eyes and wished that she had never said the things she had said.
"Ooh, Kagome…" The demon slayer inched closer, her eyes wide. Kagome turned her eyes in her direction and waited for the girl to speak. "What do you like to do when you're by yourself?" Kagome looked away and thought for a moment. What was this? Ask Kagome questions about her life time?
"Well, I watch the stars at night, and dream about being with InuYasha." She froze. Oh god! She couldn't believe she had just said that. "Oh god!" She shrieked, scrambling to her feet and running out of the hut and to the familiar hill upon which she used for stargazing.
"Ugh…I'm so stupid." She groaned, rolling over onto her side a little, feeling someone sit next to her she looked up. "Ah!" She gasped, rolling back over and sitting up.
"Calm down." He said quickly grabbing her before she could scream. "It's me silly." She blinked a few times, her breathing returning to normal slowly. She wiggled away from him and fixed her eyes on the stars again, trying her hardest to forget that he was there. She didn't look as she heard him move, she was afraid to look.
"I still don't get why you stare at those things. They're just little dots in the sky." He said with a small grunt, looking up at the sky as well.
"They're beautiful…" She said with a dreamy sigh, pulling her knees up to her chest. He nodded in agreement.
"Yea, you are." Taken aback she turned her head quickly looking at him.
"What?" Her voice was trembling slightly as her heart rate skyrocketed. He sat up on his elbows, he looked at her while he touched his palm lightly to her cheek.
"I said, yes, you are beautiful." Her jaw dropped in disbelief. This wasn't the InuYasha she once knew, he had changed, unless he was like this all along, but she refused to see him like that. Her mind raced, and her breathing became uneven.
"T-thank you…" She stammered, moving a little closer to him. She couldn't stop herself as she kept moving closer, her face inches from his. "You're not too bad yourself." She said with a tiny grin before pressing her lips against his. After a few moments she pulled away, her cheeks bright red again.
"Sorry!" She said, looking away again, pulling her knees even closer to her chest. He let out a low chuckle and sat up more, grabbing her by the shoulders and pulling her to him. Holding her tightly against his chest. She was about to object but he was quicker.
"I think I'm beginning to like stargazing." He said with a slight nod, glancing down at her. Kagome smiled as she cuddled up with him. So what she said wasn't so stupid after all. Yes, they all knew she was in love with him, and that it could never end up working out, but they'd make something out of it. Somehow. Maybe it was better to tell the truth no matter how humiliated you feel, it may lead to one of the happiest nights of your life.
