Heroism isn't Just for Boys
Preface
"A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
The crowd roared around us; wild with blood lust. They were ready to see someone torn limb from limb. I considered that as I narrowed my eyes at Viktor's smug look. It wouldn't be long until I could smack it off his face or at least I hoped I could. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to defeat my other half, my Phantom, to kill Viktor.
It goes against a Phantom's nature to strike out against their sire, no matter how deeply you hated them. Genkai and Ale had both told me it wouldn't be easy overcoming my Phantom side, especially since it'd been fully released.
A hand griped my arm suddenly as I moved forward towards either my salvation or doom. Glancing back, my eyes fixated on Matsu's small brown orbs.
"Be careful, Tuesday." His voice was small, the words almost whispered. I felt my dead heart clench tightly at the desolation in his voice. Like there was no hope in the world, I wanted so badly to tell him I'd be fine. It would be a lie.
My eyes watered and I quickly brushed away a tear that escaped my eye. A small sob tore itself from my throat and I nodded at him. The necromancer released my arm and I walked towards the arena towards Viktor and my own uncertain future.
