A/N: Avengers Academy AU
Tony sat in his Dorm not wanting to talk to anyone. He was disappointed in himself. He was so selfish. He was just trying to be good after everything with Steve and the team. He wanted to help them get back on their feet. They were ib the hospital because of him. He had made a mistake. He tried to fix it. He made them feel special. But first he lost Rhodey to caring for them. Then he lost Pepper. Then he lost his parents. Now he's in his room crying his eyes out.
A knock from the door came to Tony's ears. He hoped it wasn't his friends and team-mates. He loved them. But he needed time alone. He got up and went to the door. " Please guys I just want to be alone. Everything has been a lot lately." Tony said hoping they understand. He opened the door to see his boyfriend there. Stephen Strange. He smiled and blushed. " I'm not them but I understand if you need time alone love." Stephen said knowing Tony's been through a lot recently. First Rhodey stopped spending time with him. Then Pepper left him because he got drunk at a party. Now the Avengers are blaming him for getting hurt.
Then there was him. Tony had hurt Stephen by ignoring him all week. Tony missed classes. Missed meals. Heck they had a date Friday and he missed that as well. Stephen knew Tony was a mess at the moment now. But he didn't expect him to be this much of a mess. Tony hugged Stephen knowing he hurt him. " I'm sorry. It's just everyone expects so much of me. I just wanted to live up to that. I didn't mean to miss our date or ignore you. It's just a lot lately. I'm sorry Stephenie." Tony said feeling bad for what he's done.
Stephen picked Tony up with his magic and walked over to the bed. He set Tony on the bed. He sat down beside him. " Tell me what's wrong Tony. Please we're here to support each other. Through thick and thin." Stephen said wanting to help him. Tony sniffled and sighed. He didn't deserve someone as kind, sweet, and as patient with him like Stephen. He was suppose to be alone. He was a genius. A philpaterist. A billionaire. He had another title coming to him now.
' Playboy.' Tony cried at the thought of being that. He did flirt with a lot of girls. Even while he's dating Stephen he did. It was his way of coping with his parents death. Losing Rhodey as his friend. Losing Pepper as his friend and roommate at the tower. Losing the trust and friendship of Steve, Natasha, Clint, Bruce, and Thor. Now he would lose Stephen to who he was now. He was not the person Stephen loved anymore. The kind, sweet, caring, smart, gentle, independent, brave, funny, and very loving and clingy Tony Edward Stark. He hated it. He bet Stephen did as well. If he had seen it.
Stephen didn't think Tony was a Playboy though. He saw what Tony was doing. But he threw it to Tony grieving over his parents and lost of his two best friends. And now the Avengers. He wasn't mad about Tony missing their date or ignoring him. He was a little mad about Tony missing classes though. Because Tony never missed class. Even when Stephen tells him not to because he's sick. Tony was as stubborn as he was. He didn't care. Here Tony was crying in front of him over his loses. Which Stephen would proudly handle. No matter what. " Everything. I lost Rhodey because I was spending too much time with them. I lost Pepper because I didn't come back to the tower for the summer. I lost my parents after a fight and to a car crash none of the less. Now I've lost the team because of a simple security system to protect them. I feel like everything I've done this pass school year was for nothing. Now I'm here crying about it after ignoring you. I don't deserve you Stephen. Why do you put up with me?" Tony said knowing he's been nothing but selfish since he returned to school.
Stephen lifted Tony's chin. Ever since they met Tony's been trying to give and show him reasons to want him. But he has all the reasons in front of him. He didn't need Tony to keep showing him. He knew Tony had anxiety, trust issues from friends he had in high school. Depression from everything his father said. And he was attention deprived from his father and mother being busy. Mostly from his father. Which made Stephen despise Howard Stark. " Anthony Edward Stark. You deserve every single bit of love you have from me. No matter how bad you've been lately I've pushed to you grieving over your mother's death. Over losing Pepper and Rhodey. Over losing your team-mates and friends who have been nothing but ungrateful and unkind since this whole mess started. Yes they got hurt but it wasn't your fault that you messed up. You got hacked by Hope's father who was trying to kill you six off. I will be going to see them after this but first. I have something to sing to you and you will listen. Don't try to push me away from you while trying to make you feel better." Stephen said wanting him to listen. Tony nodded as Stephen held him close.
Friday started the music to let Stephen do his thing. Friday hated seeing Tony sad. She really did. So she would let anyone help Tony. Even if Tony wanted to be alone right now. Stephen listens for the moment to start singing to Tony. It was time to show Tony how much he meant to him. " I don't need you to sell me your reasons to want you." Stephen sang knowing there's too many for him to count. " I don't need you to search for the proof that I should." Stephen sang knowing he's been looking. He's found all of the reasons to keep being with Tony. They met the first day of school last year. They got together on New Years. In which Tony kissed him once the ball dropped. Which he loved. Tony went all out. Like he usually does.
Stephen blushed as he remembered that night. " You don't have to convince me. You don't have to be scared your not enough. Cause what we've got going is good." Stephen said knowing their doing great. They argue like any normal couple. They make up in the end. They kiss and go on dates. They spend time with other. Alone or with friends of there's. It was nice. Stephen liked Tony's friends. Tony liked Stephen's friends. Wanda and the other magic users of the Academy were great. The Avengers team were great to Stephen. Just not at the moment.
Stephen looked at his scarred hands and Tony's Arc Reactor. He didn't like hearing the humming noises it made. But he liked the blue light coming from it. It worked as a night light. But not as a calming heart beat Stephen needed. " I don't need more reminders of all that's been broken." Stephen said knowing what happened to him was horrible. What happened to Tony was horrible. It caused Tony to build the suit and shut down one part of Stark Industries. Which Stephen didn't care about the ladder. It was horrible to think about as it is.
Stephen looked into Tony's eyes not wanting this to happen ever again. " I don't need you to fix what I'd rather forget." Stephen said not wanting to fix anything in their lives right now. Well maybe his friendship with Rhodey, Pepper, and his team. Other than that their fine. " Clear the slate and start over." Stephen said wanting Tony to restart everything with the people who love and care about him. " Try to quiet the noises in your head." Stephen said wanting Tony to stop listening to the voices that are telling him what to do.
Stephen poked Tony's forehead. Tony giggled as he did. " We can't compete with all that." Stephen sang knowing they can't fight them. Tony nods agreeing with him on that. " So what if it's us? What if it's us? And only us. And what came before won't count anymore or matter. Can we try that?" Stephen sang wanting Tony to know that his past doesn't define him now. He wants to try being himself around Tony. He wants Tony to be himself around him. Tony nods agreeing to this.
Stephen put his hand on the arc reactor. Tony flintched a little but knew Stephen wouldn't take it out. Stephen knew it was the only thing keeping Tony alive right now. " What if it's you?" Stephen sang keeping his hand on the arc reactor. Then he put his other hand on his chest. Where his heart is. " What if it's me?" Stephen sang knowing Tony wants him around. " And what if that's all that we needed to be?" Stephen sang knowing that being themselves is what they need. " And the rest of the world falls away. What do you say?" Stephen sang knowing all that matters is what they think of themselves and each other.
Tony rubbed the back of his neck and took Stephen's hand. " I never thought there'd be someone like you who would want me." Tony sang never thinking anyone like Stephen would love him. Because of who he is. Who Stephen is as well. It made him feel like Stephen deserves better. But Stephen didn't want better. He wanted Tony. He needed Tony in his life. The one he loves. " Well." Stephen said knowing that's what happened. And nothing was going to change that. Tony looked at him knowing what he tried to do.
Tony sighed and held Stephen's hand. He was being careful because of the pins inside. " So I gave you ten thousand reasons to not let me go." Tony sang knowing what he did was selfish and unnecessary. It was but Stephen already loved Tony for who he was. So why give him more reasons to love him? When he already does. " But if you really see me. If you like me for me and nothing else." Tony sang now understanding what Stephen sees in him. What Stephen loves about him. It was just him. Stephen loved him for him. That's all that matters to Tony.
Tony hugged Stephen happy that Stephen likes him for him. " That's all that I've wanted for longer than you could possibly know." Tony sang happy that he's finally got what he wanted. He's always wanted to be accepted by his friends. his father. Now he's got that with Stephen. It made him happy to have that. " So it can be us. It can be us. And only us." Tony sang wanting what Stephen wanted for them. Stephen smiled happy he convinced Tony of doing what he needed for them. " And only us. And what came before won't count anymore or matter. We can try that." Tony sang wanting to try.
Then Stephen smiled as Tony pulled away. He took Tony's hand and stood up. Tony followed him. " It's not so impossible." They sang knowing it will be easy but hard at the same time. " No body else but the two of us here." Tony sang knowing it will just be him and Stephen. Then Stephen created a portal to Stark Tower. They went through it and were on Tony's floor. The portal closed and Tony smiled. " Cause your saying it's possible." They sang knowing that's what their both saying.
Stephen smiled looking at the place. It felt like how. Not because it was Tony's home. Because Tony was there. " We can just watch the whole world disappear." Stephen sang knowing they can do that. " Til I'm the only one I still know how to see." They both sang knowing that's how it's going to be from now on when they're with each other. They danced around while singing.
Then they stopped abd started running around the floor. " It's just you and me." Tony sang knowing it will be that way. Stephen nodded and smiled. " It'll be us. It'll be us. And only us." Stephen sang confirming what Tony was singing. " And what came before won't count anymore." Stephen sang knowing the past won't matter anymore to them. Which will be great. Tony smiled happy to hear that. " We can try that. You and me." They sang knowing they were going to try doing that. " That's all that we needed to be. And rest of the world falls away. And the rest of the world falls away. And the rest of the world falls away." They sang as the spun around the hall. They couldn't help but smile at the fun their having.
Then they stopped and went to the roof of the tower. When they got there they sat at the edge. They sat together watching the sunset. " The world falls away. The falls away. And it's only us." They sang as they looked at each other. Then the kissed happy to be together. Once they pulled away they went to the hospital to see the Avengers.
Once they arrived Tony led him to their room. When they got to their room Tony knocked on the door. " Come in." Natasha yelled wanting to see who it is. Tony opened the door and walked in with a bag of Shwamara in his hands. " Tony were so sorry we never meant to say those things to you. We know your going through a lot and were trying to protect us." Steve said feeling bad for hurting one of his best friends. " Can you ever forgive us?" Clint asked wondering if he could or would.
Then Tony hugged him. " I will always forgive you guys. For every mistake. No matter how small. But there is something you can do to make up for it." Tony said feeling like they need to pay. Stephen smirked knowing just what they can do. " And what would that be?" Bruce asked wondering what the two had in mind. " Once you get out. You will hand wash Stephen's robes and polish my suit. All by hand.While Stephen and I go on a date." Tony said feeling like that's a good punishment. Natasha sighed and nodded. " That seems fair." Natasha said okay with that.
" Good." Stephen said happy about that. " You can hand them their food now Tony." Stephen said knowing the food at the hospital isn't that good. " Food? Like real actual good food?" Steve asked wondering if their joking. Tony gives them their food. " Reminder of our first battle together. Thought it would bring back good memories." Tony said knowing it would. " It does bring back those." Natasha said happy with this. Then they all started eating and talking.
