This is…beyond sutpid, he thought to himself.
He had just bought a puppy. A puppy. A bearded collie pup, to be exact.
Well, of course. This was just great. He never had anything against dogs, but he hadn't exactly grown up with one, either. All he knew was that this puppy, although it was cute (Wow, did he just say that?), would be a burden he'd had to feed and pick up after…
Not that his friends had been any different. Now, he was kidding himself when he thought that, but it was there for the taking. He missed his old friends, all of them, dearly, and he was definitely angry with himself for letting them go. Of course, there was nothing he could do about it, any of it, for any of them, but there was no one left to be angry with, not unless he went and got a girlfriend and then got angry with her…
Well, he couldn't just grow older while his friends were dying without finding love. But he never found love, not the kind his friends had acquired. He had dated a few girls, one for a longer time that most of the others, but they were immaterial to him.
So, naturally, he knew why he had just bought this puppy: to not be so lonely anymore. But that still didn't explain to him why he did it. Come on, a dog? As mentioned before, there was nothing wrong with it, but…why a dog? Why not a cat?
Okay, that was stupid; he hated cats
Walking the little trouble home after he had purchased it and some food and a bowl for said food and water (Oh, thank God he was getting paid on Friday!), the pup rushed ahead of him momentarily, forcing his arms to release the hefty bags.
"Oh, just great." he muttered, and cursed under his breath while reaching down to gather up the things.
Another hand joined him, a manicured, definitely more feminine one.
"Um…thanks, miss." he said as the girl handed him he bag with the bowls.
"It's okay," the girl, who seemed about his own age, replied. "I love dogs. Is this a bearded collie?" She handed him the leash and smiled slightly.
And someday, love will find me in the rough.
