A/N: I've fallen back in love with Hameron and wanted to write something short and sweet. This song was just too perfect for words. I hope you like it.
Disclaimer: Own nothing, I do.
The power lines went out
And I am all alone
But I don't really care at all
Not answering my phone
All the games you played
The promises you made
Couldn't finish what you started
Only darkness remains
-Hey Monday
The rain fell outside her apartment; each drop hit the window trailing like a tear down her cheek. The melancholy she felt inside seemed to reflect the outside world; the wind rapping the tree branch against her window pane and the thunder booming so hard it nearly shook the ground beneath her. The power had gone out nearly an hour ago and presently, half-melted candlesticks rested in their holders on her mantle.
Allison Cameron had walked away. It had been too much, and she'd walked away from the best job she had ever had, all because of Dr. Gregory House. She took a long sip from her wine glass and stared outside. Lightening flashed and thunder boomed, but none of it could distract her from the numbing ache in her chest. The candles flickered and eerie shadows cast ghastly shapes on her white walls.
"Damn you, House." She cursed under her breath and drew her knees to her chest. Her arms wrapped around her legs and her chin rested atop her knees. Emotionally she was exhausted and drained, but sleeping would just bring haunted dreams.
Through the thunder and the rain she heard the knock coming from her door. She wanted to ignore it, crawl to her bed, pull the covers over her head and forget the world even existed. Rationale told her that if someone would brave this storm then it was out of dire need. Taking a deep breath to collect herself, she stood from the couch and slowly wandered over to the door. Standing on her tip-toes she peaked through the peep hole and, as if on cue, rolled her eyes.
She pulled the door open and leaned against it, "What do you want?"
He stood on her front step soaked down to the bone and eyes red and puffy, "Don't leave."
She crossed her arms over her chest, "Why?"
"Don't leave." He urged again.
"Why shouldn't I?" She blocked her doorway from his entrance, "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't."
"Because.." He began, stepping closer to her.
"Because why?" She searched his blue eyes.
He took a deep breath, "I'm not good at this."
"Whatever." She shook her head and turned to shut the door, "Have a good life, Dr. House."
His cane stopped her door from closing completely, "Don't go... because I need you."
Biting her lip, she opened the door and stepped outside to join him in the warm rain, "Then you have me."
He took her hand and pulled her closer. They stood toe to toe in the pouring rain as his head dipped slowly, lips seeking hers. The kiss was slow and passionate, her hands sliding around his neck and playing with the short hairs there. His cane fell to the ground as his hands sought the skin between her tank top and pajama pants.
"You have me." He whispered against her ear, "Forever."
"We have each other." She pulled him into the apartment as the last candle flickered out.
