A/N: Not much to say, I just got back into YYH and and I remembered how much I loved the two of them.

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho or any character's associated with it. This is a work of pure fiction.

Summary: A short drabble about Hiei/Botan. Botan was always so busy that she rarely had time enough to check her mailbox more than twice a week; which was unfortunate because the mail tended to get a bit, overwhelming, and would burst from the box if she wasn't fast enough the catch it all.

VII - Mailboxes

Botan was always so busy that she rarely had time enough to check her mailbox more than twice a week; which was unfortunate because the mail tended to get a bit, overwhelming, and would burst from the box if she wasn't fast enough the catch it all. She'd talked to the ogres in the mailroom about it but they were always so preoccupied with Koenma's orders they rarely remembered her plight and so she resigned herself to a pattern of pathetic attempts to stop her mail from spewing out onto floor around her feet. Thus was the results hadn't been very encouraging.

Botan had tried holding back the wave with her oar- it'd parted like the sea. And her hands, well… her hands had done little to stop the overflow either- she'd only managed to hold back two slim letters from the Renkai Association for Equal Management. Not exactly what she liked to refer to as a success.

It seemed that she was simply fated to suffer the continuous pains of picking up the aftermath of her mailbox. It seemed to be an unavoidable plague in her monthly routines. Something she just would not escape and so, with a heavy mind she seemed to have almost resigned her to this dismal existence.

One day, resolved to the fate awaiting her, Botana took out her box key and turned the lock slowly, dreading what was to come. Perhaps there wouldn't be that much today… Perhaps no one had sent her mail in… two and a half months. Botan was glad she'd at least chosen a time when no one else was around. She could at least pretend to maintain her dignity.

Taking in a deep breath Botan closed her eyes and finished unlocking the door, letting it explode open as the letters erupted out of it like a monsoon. There was a moment and then she opened her eyes and reluctantly looked to the floor. The scene was a stunning puzzlement.

No mountain of papers lay strewn around her feet, disheveled and a complete mess. No, there were simply two stacks of letters with a note on top that bridged the gap between them. Botan looked up and gave the room a once over, looking for an answer to her mystery. No was no apparent one so she opted to look the note over on top the letters.

'Onna, next time you're planning on making such a mess. Don't. I look into the box of mail which Koenma assigned me once after we return from our missions. It is required of me. Also, try and refrain from just standing there, it makes you look like an idiot.' - Jaganshi, Hiei

That stupid fire demon Botan growled to herself but she couldn't hide the smile that crept onto her lips. Yeah he'd insulted her but that was nothing new. That was something she could expect of him. But Hiei collecting her letters for her without having been asked, letting her know when he came by the post office? These things were all terribly kind and she admitted she feared Team Urameshi may have finally broken the spit-fire youkai of the demon realm.

Then again, Botan mused as she picked up her two neat piles of mail, perhaps that wasn't such a bad thing. Though… would it be too much trouble for Hiei not to put his sword through her letters when he snatched them from the air?
