Assassin and the Wolf

The night was cool, the air crisp; all was silent the only thing you could hear was my slow but steady breathing. In the underbrush; I sit patiently waiting for my prey to walk by unaware of the danger coming. I blended with the background; I had my form of camouflage. The mist billowed from my mouth with each breath I took, as I sat and waited. My icy blue eyes that would remind anyone that saw only them of that of a wolf, a white wolf to be exact. My attention was drawn in front of me as the doe walked in front of me, trying its best to stay quiet, but to no such luck. I slowly drew my weapons and sunk them into the unsuspecting deer. As it died I said a small prayer for the spirit of this animal.

"Thank you sister for you will help to feed my people tonight. Your sacrifice will not be in vain."I said as snuck out from my hiding place. I quickly skinned the animal, taking every bit of it with me, knowing that all of it would be used.

As I found my way back to my territory I was greeted by the sentries' guarding its boundaries. I heard their steady breaths as they approached me from the darkness slowly moving, making their every movement precise. When the first appeared from the shadows his tall dark skinned figure loomed over me as I stared in to his eyes, eyes that were as dark as the night itself.

"How was your hunt young Kasa?" Asked the tall one as he peered down at me.

"It was very plentiful Abhijit; you all will be well feed tonight." I said walking past him to fully enter our territory.

As I made my way to the meeting place for everyone, the leader stands in front of everyone giving a speech on how the year has come and gone and that now we head into a new year. I waited for her to finish before I approached her, slowly I made my way to her only to have her look at me and smile. I ran up to her and embraced her as tightly as I could.

"Good evening Clan Mother." I said as I dropped my arms from around her shoulders to look her in the eye.

"How went the hunt Kasa? Did you get enough for everyone?" The Clan Mother asked as we started to walk back to our longhouse that we share.

"Yes I did mother, everyone will be very happy with what I brought back with me." I said as I lowered the hood of my cloak that I was wearing.

I found my small bunk and lay down to go to sleep for the night, but for some reason I was restless; for I had a feeling that something was not right. So I got up and walked towards the entrance to your longhouse only to see nothing. The feeding had long sense ended and everyone was now in the respective place all curled up for the night. The only ones that were awake were the ones that were on the night patrol to keep the village safe from harm.

Seeing that nothing was wrong I turned and headed back to my bunk to try and get some sleep before the morning sun came up over the mountains of our valley. As I lay there my mind kept wondering, wondering back to the day that Ratonhnhake:ton left the village for his training. I knew he was going to train to become and assassin but why he couldn't have don't it here is still something that I have asked myself for the past year and a half. Before I knew it my eyes were shut and I was now entering the dream state where I could visit Ratonhnhake:ton, well at least the memories of him that I have.
