Disclaimer: Konomi's playground was open. . .but I do admit, I secretly snuck in.

Sentiments

Akazawa Yoshirou didn't get it. He could be cold, strict, and downright mean to his teammates - and even irrelevant people - when it came to certain things. He was even mean and strict to his second year doubles partner most of the time, frankly because the boy was somewhat hard to deal with, what, with his occasional outbursts of demands to his own buchou. The darker-skinned captain didn't much like taking orders; not from St. Rudolph's manager. . .and especially not from a kid. And definitely not in front of others. He was the captain for a reason.

But now, for some reason, he had found himself and Kaneda alone together at the park in the evening, swinging slowly on two separate swings. Somehow, his partner had convinced him to accompany him at the park's playground. This was really the only time - mainly when he was alone with the younger boy - that he'd allow the slightly shy one to control him. He really didn't mind if they were alone.

In the slight chill of the wind as it blew past, he didn't allow himself to protest when Kaneda pressed the ground with his feet to slide closer to the warmth of Akazawa. It was all he could do to keep his heart from melting, literally, at the feeling of the smaller regular's warmth, and he wrapped his arm around the slender shoulders. When they were alone like this. . .Akazawa didn't even ever allow himself to think of anyone besides Kaneda Ichirou, the second year that caught his eye from the moment he met him. The determination, the sweet smile, and that kindness always got to him.

Akazawa Yoshirou didn't get it. Had he really fallen for such a boy? It didn't make sense to him. But, even still, he didn't complain; not even once. He realized that all he ever really needed in his life was Kaneda and tennis. . .but without Kaneda, tennis was nothing.
