AN: This fic was a challenge between me and tater22 (Fictionpress). We were discussing one day things that would be hard to write, and we both agreed that we would struggle with a girl/girl pairing. And then we both betted we could do it.

So here's mine. I feel that I failed. Taylor's is waayyyy longer. xD

Luna had honestly never meant to act upon her feelings. She knew Ginny didn't feel the same way, with how the red headed girl was always rambling on about one boy or another. Luna never planned on telling Ginny the truth.

She had no clue what possessed her to do what she did. The two were in the library, attempting to study. Luna had suddenly fallen silent, stopping in the middle of some rant about a make believe creature.

The blonde had suddenly lost the dreamy quality in her eyes as she faced the other girl. The red head had waved a hand in Luna's face, asking the blonde if something was wrong. Luna slowly put her hands on Ginny's shoulders. Closing her eyes, the blonde leaned forward and pressed her lips against the other girl's.

The red head seemed to be frozen, barely breathing. She didn't respond as Luna's lips moved against hers.

After a few more seconds and with still no reaction from Ginny, Luna pulled away. The blonde simply stared for a few moments, and when Ginny said nothing, she turned and walked away. Luna knew how badly she had messed up. Friends of the same gender simply did not kiss one another like that.

They pretended like nothing had happened. But Luna knew, she knew things could never be the same. She would sit next to Ginny, and the red head would lean away. It wasn't by much, not enough for anyone else to notice, but to Luna it felt like miles.

But Ginny would still smile at her, still call her name happily in class, and still defend the blonde from bullies. Pretending that nothing was different, that the friendship hadn't changed. Giving Luna false hope, that maybe, just maybe, she might like her back, someday. But today, Luna saw the truth.

She knew Ginny didn't like her back.

She knew should move on.

Luna knew all this, and yet she couldn't stop the tears from rolling down her face as she stood in the middle of The Three Broomsticks. The blonde girl didn't care about the whispers, the stares. All she could focus on was a couple seated in front of her.

A couple attached at the lips, both eagerly participating in a kiss. The red head broke away for a second and her eyes flicked over to the crying girl. Then Ginny turned back and Luna ran out into the street.
