AN: I finished City of Lost Souls and oh good lord the Malec angst made me have an embarrassing reaction in English class :P So I was having feels and then I wrote this because in my head Tessa is totally Magnus' hag and Magnus spent his day out of the flat with her. So yeah. My first story, constructive criticism appreciated!
Disclaimer: Um, it's called FANfiction for a reason.
Tessa Grey was generally a calm person. She shied away from confrontation and buried herself in books. She only lost her cool when someone went a bit too far, and that rarely happened. However, there was one person she would do anything for, even loose her cool: her best friend, Magnus Bane.
They'd lived together for most of the twentieth century, travelling wherever they pleased and generally causing mayhem (She was banned from Peru as well.). They parted ways in the eighties, but still visited often. Most of the visits were friendly catching up, but some were sadder. Tessa was almost one hundred years old, but she would still see a flash of silver and think she had Jem back, or a pair of baby blues would make her believe she'd seen Will. Magnus would let her crash at his place for the night when that happened, and they'd just hold each other the whole night. Tessa just hoped Magnus knew she would do exactly the same for him if needed. Turns out, he did.
When Tessa picked up her phone one evening, the last person she expected to be on the other end was a crying Magnus. The second the words "broke up" registered, Tessa demanded Magnus come over to her place in half an hour, "no arguments, as they are invalid when I possess wine and cookie dough."
Tessa hung up and set about gathering sad movies, chocolate chip cookie dough, a mountain of pillows and some of her best wine. Just as she was finishing setting up Magnus walked in.
He looked awful. His hair was lank and dull, his eyes were sunken and bloodshot, and he was just wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. Seeing him in such a state broke Tessa's heart, and she pulled him into a hug, murmuring soft words of comfort. She hated seeing her best friend reduced to such a state.
Breaking away she asked, "Do you want to talk about it?" Magnus shook his head.
"Right now, I need junk food and alcohol. I can see you have both." The warlock smiled sadly.
It was a testament to their friendship that Tessa didn't ask pry for details, but just popped in "Titanic", pressed play, handed Magnus is food, and wrapped herself around him in a tight embrace. They sat there the rest of the night, getting increasingly tipsy throughout the movie, eventually screaming at the unresponsive screen during the sinking. After it ended, they snuggled on the pillows together. They were probably going to have massive hangovers the next morning, Magnus would probably start crying when he realized the body next to his wasn't Alec's, and Tessa would probably hunt down the Shadowhunter and yell at him for a solid hour. For now though, they were just Tessa and Magnus, trying to hold onto each other while the world changed around them.
FIN.
AN2: So yeah. Leave a review and tell me what you think! Love, LWFF
