A Little Blossom

Written by ChristheZorua

Sally Acorn, a female squirrel-like anthropomorphic animal with a white sleeveless crop-top, black shorts, and some nice blue boots, was sitting at a table outside of a café called the Little Blossom Café. It was a peaceful café with Mother Nature being its theme. She sat at a table next to her greatest friend, Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic would normally only wear his classic red and white shoes, but today, he decided to put on some clothing to look decent for his little "date" with Sally. He wore a white shirt with blue sleeves, gray jeans, and red and white slip-ons.

Sonic made the first attempt at a conversation. "So, Sal," he asked, "How is everything going with you?"

"Oh," she said, recognizing her place with Sonic, "It is okay. I am just kind of, well, bored after working so hard for the Freedom Fighters." Sonic nodded, acknowledging that the Freedom Fighters did have lots of work to do if they were going to defeat the villainous Doctor Eggman and save Mobius.

They were still patiently waiting for their order to get to them. Sally ordered a vegetarian sandwich, while Sonic ordered a chili dog. Both of them would have argued over their choices, but despite ordering the same food for years now, they have gotten used to it.

"What are you going to do after this, Sonic?" Sally always made sure to wonder what Sonic was going to do after anything, since he liked to go fast and go back to what he loves to do: Go on adventures.

Sonic thought for a moment. His adventures always consisted of running around in different areas, looking for a new grand adventure, but today, he did not feel like doing all of that. "I guess I'll just run like usual," he lied. He could not think of a bright answer.

"Like usual? Sonic, you know that if you run too much, you'll have nowhere left to run," said Sally, making a good point for Sonic. He promised he would slow down for Sally, but sometimes, it took more than slowing down to grab her attention.

"I know, Sal… but," he said, his cheeks growing red, "I just want to keep running forever, but you make a good point. I'll have nowhere left to run. Well, at least alone." Sonic put his hand, covered by a glove, on the table. Sally slowly put her own hand on the table and wrapped it around his. The two looked into each other's eyes and found twinkles inside themselves.

"Maybe you should have someone to run with, Sonic the Hedgehog," said Sally, leaning in for a kiss. Sonic leaned in as well. The moment was set perfectly. They were going to have a brilliant kiss, outside of a café. It was perfect for the two of them.

Suddenly, a voice was heard before their lips touched. "Your orders are here." Sonic and Sally snapped out of their romantic trance and looked at the waiter who looked more dashing than the sign outside of the café. Next to the waiter was a tray that had the vegetarian sandwich and chili dog, just as they ordered.

"Oh, right," said Sally, disappointed. The waiter calmly handed them their meal, adjusted his outfit, and walked away from them with the tray in his possession. The two lovebirds looked at each other again.

"You think maybe we can hold the kiss off after we eat, Sal?" Sally grinned at his question.

"First one to finish their meal gets dibs on starting the first kiss," said Sally.

"You're on."
