So I just got Resident Evil Revelations today, and after the first mission of Jessica and Chris Jessica's line "Do you trust me as much as Jill?" Really bothered me! I've never hated a Resident Evil character before, I don't even hate Wesker that much, but Jessica, how dare she assume she's as good as Jill? Grrr. So I wrote this to blow off some steam about Jessica. I felt we needed some insight to what Chris was thinking when Jessica asked that. So this is the result.
"Do you trust me as much as Jill?"
Chris really had no idea what brought this up, or why Jessica would ask him something like this out of the blue . But it had surprised him to say the least. His hand clasp tightly around his shotgun and he could almost feel the freezing cold metal though his gloved hands.
Do you trust me as much as Jill?
He and Jill had been though everything together. Since the beginning, since the first incident. He knew that no matter what, Jill would always be there for him. He wouldn't even have to ask and she'd run though the depths of hell over and over again with him.
Jessica, he had only known her a few months now, she had his back, but that's all. He knew that he was safe when he was around her. But there was nothing deeper than that.
They were two totally different people and, despite his trying, he didn't click with Jessica the same way that as he did with Jill. They didn't mesh the same way. Jessica and Chris, were two totally different personalities. There was nothing to compare between them. It was like apple and oranges.
He couldn't give her the answer he wanted to. It would make her too upset. But the truth of the matter was, that he didn't know Jessica. Chirs took a deep breath and released it with a quick huff. His breath clearly visible in the freezing air around them he turned to look at Jessica, and reloaded his shotgun quickly and cocking it to load a new shell into the barrel. "There's no need to compare. I trust you both. Besides trust is built though actions not words."
And that was that, that's all he was going to say on the matter, because that's how he felt. Jessica, unlike Jill, needed to build his trust, he wasn't going to give it to her freely.
Jessica chuckled under her breath, shiver again as she spoke. "That's so like you Chris. Always about the job isn't it."
Chris didn't say anything as he slung his shotgun over his shoulder and climbed up the latter to take him up and out of the pit that they were in. That was another difference between Jessica and Jill. Jill would never ask him a question like that. She knew that he was about the job, and his reason for being so. Veltro had to be stop and Chris wasn't going to stop till that happened.
"Come on, it's not that much farther now."
Jessica, complaining about how cold it was still, followed him up the latter and the two of them continued down the path that was before them. The sooner this was done, the sooner he could get back to his partner, not that Jessica wasn't good enough to have around, but it he need to get back with Jill. His real partner.
Yeah...I hope this was as good as what I had going through my head, please review and tell me what you think. Thanks! Plus, I haven't beaten the game yet. If you review, try to avoid spoilers. Thanks :)
