Derek sighed, a gust of cold air coming out of his mouth as he stuffed his hands in his pockets, groaning loudly.

He was standing outside of Sam's house, staring off into space, wearing only jeans and a short sleeved shirt in the freezing weather.

Sam stood a couple feet away at his door watching him.

Derek had been standing there for almost an hour.

"Dude...You can't keep running away, think about it, this is a good thing" Sam called, pressing back against the door.

Derek showed no emotion as he spoke.

"How is it a good thing, Sam? I just told her I loved her, when I know she hates me"

"That's another thing, you don't know. But everyone else does, anyone could see you and Casey were crushing on each other. Casey made it clear, the way she always talks about you, how every little thing always brings her back to you, the way you talk and walk, how your such a 'skirt-chasing-cad', all the pranks you play on her, she's thinking about you twenty four seven"

as Sam continued, Derek took in a sharp breath.

"You made it clear the moment you denied any relation towards her in the beginning, when Casey moved here. I mean c'mon D, everyone knows that THE Derek Venturi would never even think about the girl he likes as a sister, let alone family. Plus that little thing you had going on, act like you don't care about them to get girls to like you, treat them bad, call them names, ignore them and avoid them, ya know, the whole 'I'm going to act like i'm in third grade to get you to like me' faze. It's typical you, and ever since you met Casey that's all you've done with her. Admit it, Derek. Your scared, your scared because your her step-brother, and you don't want to be, you want to be so much more"

There was a long silence.

Suddenly Derek shook his head, smirking that devilish smirk, and chuckling.

"Your such a sap, Man"

Sam sighed in defeat, but Derek looked back at him, grinning.

"But your right. Your right, okay? Is that what you wanted to hear?"

"No, what I want is for you to get your ass back there to Casey, and tell her everything. You admitting whats obvious was just a bonus"

Derek rolled his eyes, and cocked his head at Sam.

"See ya, Sammy boy, I got to go tell Klutzilla something"

Sam laughed as Derek jogged off, that playful smirk on his lips.

When Sam saw Derek completely out of view, he turned around, and walked into his house.

"Maybe he's not so dense after all" you could hear him mutter before he closed the door.
