John stood in the kitchen, eating oreos, when he heard the door open and shut. A quick glance at the clock - 11:55.
"Dave?" He called, hearing a muffled curse.
His boyfriend appeared, smiling a bit. "Hey, you're still up."
"Yeah. I am. Why are you home so late?"
"Sorry. They had me stay late at work, and then I was picking up something for you at the store."
John rolled his eyes. "I don't need more ironic crap, Dave." He stuffed another cookie in his mouth.
Dave produced a small box, handing it to John as he took a cookie.
John finished his cookie before lifting the lid of the box. Nestled in the red velvet was a silver band-ring, which read 'forever yours - love Dave' on the inside.
Before John could say anything Dave continued. "John... Will you be mine forever and always?"
John looks up, eyes wide and mouth open slightly. "I..."
Dave smiled.
John scrambled for something smart to say for a second before giving up.
"Hhhhhhhfuck, Dave, of course I will!" He practically squealed, lurching forward to kiss Dave. He kissed John back, smiling as he took the box.
He lightly took John's hand, slipping the ring onto his finger. "I love you..."
"I love you, too. This is like the happiest day of my life, I swear."
"Same for me. I want to be yours forever, even if you're not mine."
"Don't even think that - I'll always be yours."
"Always."
"And forever."
They hugged.
