My Tribute to You
The whistles of the night were not of some nocturnal creature, but of an innocent guard who swung his keys around carelessly. Within seconds he was attacked, it was a wave of wind that stole the very keys from his hand, but left him unharmed. The wind returned knocking him out softly, as if it were a leaf. The night guard fell to the floor, with the help of the assailant who gently let him down.
"You're lying." The kids from the Academy said pouting. Iruka began to sweat with a red face, he waved his hands defensively.
"Nope, all too real, it was some years ago. Back when Naruto Hokage was only about 23. The economy believe it or not was horrible since a missing nin was on the loose. So they needed extra volunteers, and since I was unmarried (and still unmarried) at the time I offered." Iruka said. He continued with his story.
Half awake the guard watched from the floor covered with dirt and leaves pass him by. He heard the sound of painting strokes upon concrete repeatedly until he turned up his head. The wind moved once more, making sure he was fully knocked out. By the time the night guard had awoken and was standing there was a crowd of people. He snaked his way through them, though being pushed and shoved himself. Sound of crying people filled the air, but it wasn't of horror stricken tears.
When he made it to the front he was shocked beyond belief, someone had painted Ino Yamanaka at her best. It was truly magnificent as if she were still alive. She had died months ago, much to the heart ache of the village. And someone had made a memorial portrait on the wall of the Council Hall building. People where copying it down on scrolls, it only lasted a few hours and by the time evening struck only her friends remained.
"Who could have done this?" The kids asked, more into the story than ever. They leaned into each other asking him more things about it. All side conversations had long passed and he finally had their undivided attention.
A search went on for weeks, many said it was Shikamaru who had been raising a child at the time. Either way, the search continued into the next year until a critical piece of information was uncovered. In her eyes there was a reflection, and at the top right hand corner the initials 'US' had been painted. The Hokage, Tsunade-sama, forced her ex-partners to come clean; but ever single one of the genin 9 denied ever painting it.
Years, and years passed and the once children were getting older in age towards becoming adults. The search was over, the buzz had faded, and it was all cooling down. Then, one day when Naruto had already become Hokage, it was found that the initials stood for "Uchiha Sasuke" and the reflection was of Ino seeing Sasuke. We later found out that they had a child living with Sasuke.
The children's eyes grew twice as big.
"Great story Iruka-sensei! Tell us another!" They cheered. Iruka put his hand behind his head and laughed nervously.
"Let's see...."
