Simple things; a friendly touch here, some ice cream there with a smile. It was unusual, but not uncalled for, just unusual for Kakashi. Though the smile was the one trademark smile everyone knew.
Simple things; a concerned question here, a quick greeting there. It meant he was aware of her on some level, though how far up? How far down?
Why even bother? Why greet her whenever he saw her, just for greetings' sake?
He never showed the three whom saw him the most his face simply because he knew that they would always ask and try to see one amusing way or another. He expected their simplicity like the way others did not of him.
He always read his books to simply fill the hours.
He always waved off the concern of others on the topic of his injuries simply because he knew she would come to treat him.
The enigma that is Kakashi would remain just that until he let someone in, and even then...
