Basic Instincts
Even with the doubt found inside a person's soul, there is always some level of self- preservation.
There is no doubt that underneath every plastic surgeon's work of art, every baggy non-descript sweatshirt, every pair of sun glasses there lurks a body that wants to save itself. In the brightest of times there are always instincts that say to save ourselves. And we try our hardest to preserve ourselves in mind, spirit, and body.
And we, as a modern world, are losing the ability to do so.
How will we know what faith is, if we show no faith in one another, or even a higher power, or even many higher powers. If we show no faith in science or in fate or in anything at all, what will our children do? They will have no faith.
Faith and self preservation, these are our basic instructions, as human beings.
Through out life we have had these things, and to throw them away…
And we do. We push away even the most basic of all thoughts, of all instincts. We push them away even as we reach for the needle, or the joint. We push them away as we feel tipsy and ask for a few more shots. We push them away as we reach for the passenger's seat as the driver slurs and giggles. And over and over we push away.
When will we remember to have faith in something, someone, anything, anyone?
We draw strength from faith, we draw courage from faith, and we draw reservations that we need from faith. Be it in friends, or family, or a greater power, or our selves.
Where have the basic instincts gone?
Where will we be if they disappear all together?
AN: I know. I'm a big flaming drama queen. Sorry. One of those things you write at 3 am and decide to post, for some insane reason. But I felt like it.
