I'm sorry, I had to.
Percy sat at the base of a tree, Annabeth's head in his lap. As she napped, he stroked her hair and softly sang her a song.
"You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away"
Percy smiled as he softly kissed curls. She was the only one who knew that he sang. She understood that he was self-conscious about it, and promised to not tell a soul.
He loved her so much. He soon fell asleep, his beloved girlfriend in his arms.
Weeks later, Percy knelt at the base of the same tree, tears streaming down his face.
The day was dark and gloomy despite it being mid-afternoon. His tears glistened in the small amounts of sunlight that streamed through.
Through his sobs, he softly sang a song.
"You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away"
He put all of his emotions into the song. His love, his pain, his anguish, and his grief. The song he and Annabeth shared alleviated some of the pain, but much of it remained.
As he sang the song, tears streamed down his face. He softly ran his fingers over the name engraved on the headstone that sat at the base of the tree.
Annabeth Chase
A scream of despair and sorrow left his lips as he sobbed harder. He lost her. His soulmate, his other half. He felt incomplete without her.
Percy's sobs slowed to a stop as he rested his head against the headstone. He would always love her, even in death.
I'm sorry. The idea of a sad Percabeth fic has been in my head for days. Tell me what you think.
