This songfiction is dedicated to smaziah, for she is the one who asked me
to write this fiction. Please note that shows the start of the song and
the end. I have also separated some verses to make the songfiction more
meaningful.
Hello my friend we meet again
It's been a while
Where should we begin…
Feels like forever
"Gandalf!" Frodo gasped. He stared at the figure towering above him, unable to believe his eyes.
"What? No hug for me?" Gandalf asked, his eyes twinkling. Frodo jumped at Gandalf and threw his arms around Gandalf. He was so glad that Gandalf was back.
"I'm not back, Frodo. I'm still dead," Gandalf spoke up suddenly, as if he had read Frodo's thoughts. Frodo's face fell immediately. Gandalf paused before continuing, to let Frodo comprehend his words.
"But to remind you that I'm not gone," Gandalf told Frodo. Frodo gazed up at Gandalf, confusion splashed all over his face. Gandalf smiled and went on.
"I'm still in your heart."
Within my heart are memories
Of perfect love that you gave to me
I remember
"I'll never forget you, Gandalf," Frodo said softly. Gandalf raised a bemused eyebrow.
"I didn't ask you too, young Hobbit," Gandalf replied.
"You always supported me, and helped me."
When you are with me
I'm free…I'm careless…I believe
"I'm still there."
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice
"But why did you have to go?" Frodo asked.
We've seen our share of ups and downs
Oh, how quickly life can turn around
In an instant
It feels so good to reunite
Within yourself and within your mind
Let's find peace there
"I had to. It was part of my duty to protect you. It was either me, or you." Gandalf replied gravely.
When you are with me
I'm free…I'm careless…I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
"Will you be going soon?" Frodo asked. "I feel so good around you…"
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice
Gandalf didn't reply, but turned around to look at the setting sun. He brushed a tear from his eye.
I just want to say hello again
I just want to say hello again
"I just came to say hello, and I'll be leaving in a minute," Gandalf replied as soon as he turned back to Frodo.
Frodo hesitated in replying. Gandalf scrutinized the Hobbit carefully, and realized he was gathering his thoughts and trying to place them into words.
"I love you a lot, Gandalf. Thank you for being there for me," Frodo finally said. Gandalf took a step towards Frodo and engulfed him a huge hug.
"Goodbye, young Hobbit," Gandalf stated as he disappeared. Frodo stared at the blank space, wishing that Gandalf had never died …
When you are with me
I'm free…I'm careless…I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
Coz when you are with me
I'm free…I'm careless…I believe
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice
My sacrifice (I just want to say hello again)
I just want to say hello again
My sacrifice
Notes:
- Song is My Sacrifice – Creed (love that song)
- This fictional event occurs a month after the Fellowship of the Ring returns to Rivendell.
- This is also dedicated to my closest friends, who have sacrificed much for me.
- I must also thank my Muses for helping me finish this quickly.
