"Starting now, we'll never be apart."
She hears the words from his lips and wants to cry.
It's a beautiful lie and she can't bring herself to deny it, because he says it so sincerely, or maybe because she wants it to turn into truth.
And for a fraction of a second, she wants to say no, to scream, to shout and to stop everything, but she is tired; so tired. She can feel her heart, slow and lazy.
Her red eyes meet his gray ones, and she opens her mouth but can't find the words. Instead, she lifts up her arms -why won't they move faster?- Languidly, and holds him close, listening to the sound of his breath and the beating of his heart. He smells like fresh grass and sunshine. He feels so alive, and she is crying now, the tears a slow silent trickle down her face. It wasn't meant to be like this.
He is startled, unsure of how to react, he is always like that isn't he?; Dumbfounded when it comes to her, yet always trying so hard. He gently wipes away the tears with his warm hands and soft kisses to her face. She turns to him now and smiles, it lights up her face and his heart skips a beat. Her mouth opens, and she moves her lips, he can't hear what she is saying, inaudible and vague. And then, she closes her eyes for the last time.
The boy is alone again.
A drabble and slight rewriting of Akihiko and female main character's ending. Way to break my heart.
Urgh, STFU persona for making me write fanfiction obsessively, so yeah, this is the first fanfiction I've ever felt the need to publish. Tell me what you think?
