jasper/alice.

By Katie

a/n: Jasper and Alice equal love, no question about it! This fic is sort of set when they first meet and what they both felt...and, er, stuff... (:

disclaimer: Stephenie Meyers owns it all, darlings.

"I'm sorry, m'am."

He thought it sounded like something any good Southern gentleman would say to a lady. Especially a lady as pretty as this one.

"Oh, it's fine! I'm Alice Cullen. Nice to meet you." the girl smiled, holding out a hand for him to shake.

"I'm Jasper Whitlock, and I assure you that the pleasure is mine." he smiled.

Jasper couldn't help but notice how intriguing her golden eyes were. He had seen red and black eyes before, but never golden. He decided that she looked rather pretty with her strange eyes.

"You look thirsty." she whispered lowly.

He nodded sheepishly; "I am. Extremely."

"You don't have to kill people, you know. The thirst can be quenced another way."

Another way? Jasper thought that drinking human blood was the only way.

"What other way is there? Drinking water?" he asked curiously, but with a hint of bitter sarcasm.

"Of course not!" she laughed a little too loudly, but no one seemed to notice.

"I'm intrigued. Tell me more, Alice." Jasper said lowly, also beginning to smile.

"Come with me, and I can show you, Jasper."

He was almost afriad to go. Where was she going? Was she anything like Maria and Nettie and Lucy had been?

He didn't have time to think about it.

She was already pulling him outside.

He was falling head over feet as she pulled him out the door...in more than one way.

"I'm sorry, m'am."

She could tell that he was from the South, from the slight lilt in his tone. Quite endearing you asked her. Wonderfully refreshing and new.

"Oh, it's fine! I'm Alice Cullen. Nice to meet you." she smiled easily, making a snap decision to hold out her hand.

"I'm Jasper Whitlock, and I assure you that the pleasure is mine." he had taken her hand gently, and she knew by his tentative touch that he was very nervous.

Alice noticed the black of his eyes, how desperately thirst he must be. She thought he would look even more beautiful with warm, tawny eyes. Jasper's shocking good looks set the bar very high for other male vampires.

"You look thirsty." she said, as quietly as possible.

He nodded shyly; she wished he would make eye contact with her again. "I am. Extremely."

"You don't have to kill people, you. The thirst can be quenched another way." she tried to sound quiet, so that they wouldn't attract attention.

Alice smiled at Jasper's bewildered expression.

"What other way is there? Drinking water?"

"Of course not!" she giggled too loudly. She hoped the no one had noticed; Alice hated bringing unnecessary attention to herself.

"I'm intrigued. Tell me more, Alice." Jasper's tiny nearly-grin made her nonbeating heart almost come back to life. He was so handsome. Even more handsome then her brothers.

"Come with me and I can show you, Jasper." she tried to sound flirtatious and mysterious and as effortlessly, impossibly perfect as her sister Rosalie.

Alice could sense Jasper's tension, his momentary hesitation.

But she wouldn't give him any time to think about it.

She pulled him outside before he could even blink.

She couldn't help but wonder if he might fall in love with her.

The thought made her feel almost...human.

She liked that.

Okay, that was way shorter then I intended it to be...oh well.

I tried to make Jasper and Alice seem sort of human, since I don't see them as these statues with no feelings at all. (:

Please review with something more than "so cute" or "i loved it" or whatever. Pleeeeease??
