Fireflies.
Fireflies are creatures that seem to only come out at night.
In the dark they are like little lights.
They can be many in number.
Together, they can create a light that's brighter than even the moon.
If there was only one firefly though, one that's all alone…
That one would only make a small, insignificant light in the dark.
The light would still be there, of course, but less noticeable.
It should make a difference and yet it doesn't at all.
That's how Malik-hikari is.
He's a lone firefly in the dark, always shining with all that he has while fluttering about, not quite knowing where he is or where he's going.
And the light in the dark, no matter how small it is, will always make a big impression on the dark.
Because it is simply there.
That light was once with me.
I had caught it without realizing it and didn't take any precautions as to keeping it.
I didn't know.
I forgot to keep the light in a glass jar so that I could keep it with me for all eternity.
The firefly escaped from the dark and left it.
Now, it comes and visits every once in a while, but not long enough.
Long enough would be an eternity.
Now, as I'm here all alone, I want that light with me…
Always with me.
But it's alright.
For when my little firefly comes again I'll have a glass jar ready this time.
I won't let him escape me again.
I won't make the same mistakes again.
And I won't break my firefly to the point that he can't fly like last time.
This time, I'll take good care of my firefly.
And he'll be happy.
We'll be together for eternity, my little firefly and I…
Ah, I have returned! I shall try and update my other stories from now on since it's summer vacation for me. Oh, but don't expect me to update AP (if you know what that is) and I'll be posting up an AN with reasons why soon... probably. As for TRSSL (for those who read it), I plan to take it off, rewrite it and re-post. I hope you all enjoyed this drabble that's a one-shot. I haven't written for a while so I'm a bit rusty. Bye bye!
