A/N: just a little something to put out there. No plot really; just Percy and Annabeth. Enjoy! Please read and review if you can!
A sleepless night had led Percy to the edge of the sea, the soft waves just barely reaching his naked feet. The moon had begun to fade into the sky that mimicked the colors of a pastel painting. Only a few cries of seagulls were heard off in the distance, along with a sharp crack of a twig snapping under some ones weight. Percy abruptly turned to the direction of this sound. After all the trials he had faced, and the recognition of his status as a demigod, he had learned it was wise to be cautious. But when he saw a head of curly blonde hair come out from the edge of trees, he let his guard down.
Annabeth came to his side, staring at the same open waters as he was. It made him see just how equal they really were; both just standing and watching the sun rise. It was an ordinary event that happened everyday, yet still so captivating.
"I know you miss him." She announced suddenly. He put his head down, in what was seemingly an attempt to hide his weakness from her. That since he had learned Poseidon was his father, he had felt somewhat… neglected. It confused him as to why he always had to be so strong in front of her. Why he tried not to let her see the darkness of some of those memories he'd rather forget.
"Yeah." He muttered, completely lost in the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore. She placed her hand on his arm, quietly signaling that all would be okay. Finally he looked at her when the sun had just decided to peek its head from under the covers of the horizon.
He admired how her intelligent eyes could prove him wrong no matter what state he was in, but also encouraged him. He smiled whenever she called him 'seaweed' brain, in that incredibly cute way. He could never admit that she always defeated him, just by walking into a room. And that he never failed to imagine waking up to her every morning just like this. He assumed he'd always loved her, from when he was just a boy waking up from a very traumatic incident, to the moment right here and now.
When he noticed that she had looked away at the sea once more, he placed a single kiss on he cheek. Surprised she looked at him and laughed lightly. The happiness that he felt at that moment was something that would churn the waves from then on. She kissed him back lightly, and he returned it. When they embraced the sun had come out completely, and it was if all the light in the world was cast only on the daughter of the wise and the son of the sea.
