"Your hair is so straight and beautiful, Esther."
In a hotel room in Istavan two young ladies, with one with blood red sitting in a chair and the other with long curly black hair brushing her hair for her. They have just got done resting after the confrontation last night.
"Really?" Esther said with doubt in her voice. "I have never really liked the color of my hair."
"I think it suits you." Schera said in her usual kind voice. "It is the color of my favorite tea."
Schera suddenly sighed, with a content, happy look in her eyes.
"Whats wrong, Schera?"
Esther turned her head to look at her friend. Who was staring softly into the mirror in front of them.
"I may be saying this because of the mood right now." Schera started "But the way we are talking, it just seems as though we have been friends for years."
Esther's eyes widened in realization. "Yes, I forget that we only met a day ago."
It was strange. How quickly Esther came to think of her and Schera as such close friends. Even though when they first met, Schera was being forced to try to kill her. It didn't stop the friendship from developing in that underground tunnel. Schera's face just showed how genuine she was when she said she didn't want to her hurt her. Esther trusted her immediately. She couldn't help it. Though now that she thought about the incident at the Opera house.
"Schera?"
"Yes?"
"Back at the Opera house." Esther paused. "What did you say?"
Schera stared for a moment. Then a sheepish smile came on her face.
"I forgot"
Esther couldn't help but smile back. Not telling Schera that she knew what she said back there.
"I suppose it doesn't matter now." Esther reassured. "Because we are friends now, and thats all that matters." Then she added. "Well we still need to save your family though."
Schera smiled gently. "Either way I am glad to have met you." Her smile widened. "I believe that I can say you are my Tovarich!"
Esther was shocked. She knew what Tovarich meant in the Methusalah culture. Tovarich meaning you trust that person with your life. Hearing Schera call her that touched and surprised her. Seeing how shortly they have known each other.
"You really see me as your Tovarich, Schera? Truly?"
Schera looked at her with a softened gaze. "Yes, I know that it is shocking but I do see you as a comrade, a close friend."
Esther nodded with a smile. "I'm glad you think of me that way. You are also my friend. That is why I will help you save your family. No matter what the cost is."
"Thank you so much, Esther." Schera said sincerely.
They both know that they will have to face many obstacles. The road will be a cruel one. But as long as they have each other to rely on. Not to mention help from a certain silver haired priest. They will fight til the end. Give all they got, no matter the consequences.
