This is my first go at writing a Castle fic. I've only seen the first four episodes so this takes place somewhere near the beginning of their partnership. Reviews are welcome, it would be nice to know whether I've got the characters down!

I own nothing!

"You're attracted to me."

"No I'm not"

"Yes, you are."

Beckett sighed in frustration.

"For the last time Castle I am not attracted to you, so just give it up would you?"

Castle fixed his gaze on Beckett's face, his expression suddenly serious.

"I can prove it"

Beckett rolled her eyes but she was a detective, and as usual, curiosity was getting the better of her.

"Fine. How?" she leant back in her seat, her arms folded. She twitched an eyebrow and Castle knew that one motion meant, bring it on.

Castle leant forward in his seat and brought his face closer to hers. Beckett eyed him nervously and her teeth started to worry her lower lip.

"Because when I lean in like this, Kate" he said, in barely more than a whisper, his breath ghosting along her cheek, "You always think I'm going to kiss you."

Beckett's gaze had flicked to his lips but now she looked him right in the eye.

"How the hell does that mean I'm attracted to you?"

"Because you think I'm going to kiss you. Any other guy leans in, you think he's going to try to kiss you."

"There's no difference Castle." Beckett's brow furrowed.

"Oh yes there is."

"Enlighten me" she challenged.

"Because when you think someone's going to try to kiss you, it implies you're going to stop them"

Beckett's mouth fell open and Castle leant back in his seat, a triumphant smirk on his face.

Castle 1, Beckett 0.

This was going to be fun.

Any good? Let me know!
