"These Near Shore dwellers….fickle, aren't they?" Nora whispered.
He grinds his teeth and forges forwards, ignoring her grating words. Yukine hurries on behind him, yelling at him, to stop, to wait for him to catch up.
"Poor Yato god…." Her little laugh, like the tinkling of bells, sang out sweetly in the crisp wintry air.
"Yato!" Yukine is calling out with clear worry in his voice, cursing the thick snowbanks that inhibit his path. Yato can't hear. All he can hear is the taunting of Nora in his head, her laughter ringing out in the night.
"I won't forget you, Yato." Nora purred, wrapping pale arms around him, holding him tight, her eyes darkening in the twilight. "Father won't forget. We won't EVER forget…"
"YATO!" Yukine is red-faced now, and his emotions are a turbulent storm, churning, and Yato feels every tidal wave. He snaps around, fists clenched, and his shinki quiets, his fiery orange eyes a calmer, sadder hue. "Is this about Hiyori?" He asks.
"I'll never forget you, Yato!"
"Yato," Yukine tries again, his hand darting out to grab Yato's jersey, but the god is already walking away, hands shoved deep into his pockets, hair shielding his brilliant blue eyes from view.
"You're just saying that, Hiyori."
"I'm not!" She pulled at him, her sparkling smile almost blinding him with its brilliance. "I promise. No matter what happens."
"You are a liar, Iki Hiyori." He spits, and Yukine freezes up behind him. "WHAT did you say?!"
She filled his mind like no Near Shore Dweller should ever have, spinning and twirling with that luminescent pink tail/cord flicking back and forth, her raven hair swirling around her beautiful perfect face, lit up with that trademark smile of hers.
And she was a goddamned (irony) liar.
