Gale and Annie

Annie's POV

I know that he's gone. I know that he's not going to come back. I just can't accept that. I wake up screaming every night and lay there alone until I cry myself to sleep, until tonight.

"Finnick!" I scream, starting to cry. I know he's not going to come to me, but I call for him anyways. I hear a tap on the door and it slowly creeks open to reveal Gale Hawthorne.

Gale has become one of my closest friends since Finnick died. He can always talk me out of whatever hallucination I happen to be in, and seems to light up the room whenever he comes in.

He walks in and picks me up, "Annie, he's not here, I'm sorry, shhhh," he whispered, holding me tightly.

I clung to him and cried into his shirt. "Gale?" I whimpered.

"I'm here, sweetheart, I've got you," he whispered, just his voice calmed me down. Gale held me there until I started to drift off to sleep.

"Good night, Anns," he murmured.

"n-night" I whispered, voice thick from crying.

The next morning I woke up with the same arms holding me, I looked up to find gray eyes instead of sea green ones. Gale. He had stayed there all night just to make sure I was okay. Sometimes I just don't understand the boy. He has so much going for him and he still stays with me.

"Hey Annie, you awake?" he asked softly. There was a certain tone in his voice that told me something was bothering him.

"Yeah, what's wrong? Is something bothering you?" I whispered, disengaging myself from his arms and holding his hand tightly instead. His hands were shaking and I knew something was definitely wrong.

"I have to go to district two. I can't go home… why would I anyways? Rory hates me and the way Vic and Posy mirror him they probably do too."

"You can't leave Gale…"

"Why?"

"b-because... I…I love you."
