Chapter 1

POV Piper

I had no idea that I was living my mom's life.

I thought I was a curse-free person with normal parents and normal friends who didn't cause your life to turn upside down.

Plus, my moms a single mom. I want a husband to help with my three children.

I was sitting with my best friend, Alexa, at lunch.

Two people passed by us. I didn't think anything of this. I didn't know that I had just seen two of the most important people in my entire life.

One was a boy. He had curly black hair and green eyes. The other was a girl, she had the same dark hair, but it was straight. She had icy blue eyes.

I ignored them. Whatever. People passed by tables every five seconds. I continued my conversation with Alexa.

Okay. Today's a new day.

Yesterday was terrible!

We went to the shoe store and my older brothers Frank and Jason knocked everything in the isle down.

Then, they pranked me and I was dripping wet with water and then our neighbor knocked on the door and saw me!

And then, I layed down in my room to rest, and my dad scared my by jumping into my room, so I fell off the bed and twisted my ankle.

And then, after I was put into bed, I heard my mom screaming at someone. No one answered though.

But today's a new day!

I shot up out of bed, relieved that it was Saturday.

My brother popped his head into my room, and I expected him to ask why I was up so early on a weekend.

But he said, "get up! You're going to miss the bus."

"What?" I said, confused.

"Get up."

"But it's Saturday."

My brother looked shocked, then annoyed. "Get up! Now!"

"But-"

"No playing games, Piper! NOW!"

I jumped out of bed and grabbed a t-shirt and shorts as he stormed out of the room.

I emerged out of my room to see my mom storming past my brother.

"Amanda?" My brother only calls my mom by her first name when she's mad. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, Jason," my mother snapped, sounding tired. "I'm going to lie down. Go," I grabbed my bag and my lunch and ran outside to the bus, where Frank was already standing.

I sat down next to Eliza, because Alexa rode in her car.

My brothers got off at the high school stop, but I waited till we got to the middle school stop, since I'm only eleven and my brothers are 14 and 17.

I meet Alexa at the front of the school, where she waves. I wave back uncertainly.

She did that yesterday, but whatever.

"I cannot believe this!" Alexa said.

"Me too!" I said, relieved I wasn't crazy. Why were we going to school on Saturday?

"You heard?" Alexa asks in amazement. She said that yesterday, but for a stupid reason.

"Heard what?"

"That my mom made me wear this shirt!"

I groan inwardly and glance down at her shirt. It's a green tee. Mine's blue, same as yesterday. I wince dramatically. Same as yesterday. Green's not that terrible of a color. Plus, that means I could be going crazy.

Alexa spends the rest of the day chattering about her shirt. Same as yesterday.
