ANOTHER SUCKISH FIC! WOO! -_-'

I own nothing! Zuko, Katara, and everything recognizable belong to Mike/Bryan/Nickelodeon.

Katara's sapphire eyes wandered around his face, no doubt silently pleading for a response. Zuko merely shook his head stubbornly, his golden eyes stabbed with pain. She reached up, her hand drawn to the left side of his face, where angry red marred his otherwise smooth, pale skin. He lifted a hand to stop her from touching him, but when his hand made contact with hers, he dropped his arm to the side in defeat.

She traced the ragged edge of the scar from his hair line, down over his ear, and back up to the side of his nose. Fiddling with the cap on the pendant of mystic water from the Spirit Oasis she wore about her neck, she pulled out a strand of the sparkling water with her bending. Katara guided the water to the harsh scarlet that dominated his face.

Zuko squeezed his eyes shut as tightly as he could and flinched away from her touch, listening to her obvious struggles as she tried to heal the scar. She groaned and panted with the effort while her healing liquids spread across his face, glowing brightly. A solid few minutes passed with no progress, and Katara screamed, defeated, and let the useless water fall with a splash at their feet.

"It didn't work!" she shouted, hitting Zuko's shoulder once with a clenched fist before collapsing into him, her body wracking with sobs and freely flowing tears. "It didn't work, it didn't work," she murmured in disgust. "I can't help you. I can't do anything for you."

"Katara, shh. It's alright. Katara, listen to me," he said gently, holding her against himself. "It's a scar. It will never be healed. But you are wrong, when you say you can't do anything for me." He paused, thoughtful. "You have already done so much. You have tried to help and you have accepted me. And...and you've given me someone to love. So I thank you, Katara. Never think that you can't do anything for me."

His golden eyes stared down at her tenderly, watching carefully as her sobs morphed into pitiful hiccups then into deep, exhausted breaths from the confines of his arms.

Even as she stopped crying, he did not let go, nor did she try to extract herself from his reach. Instead, she embedded herself deeper into his embrace, and he smiled. He thanked Agni for his water tribe girl and pressed his cheek against her hair, his rough scar hidden from sight by her chocolate brown locks. He mouthed the words "I love you;" the silent sentiment-ever present and obvious-cocooned around the benders in a soft reminder of their affection.

I REALLY need to fix that last paragraph; it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But, since I don't expect many people to read this (that and the fact that I'm utterly exhausted), I'm going to leave it at that for right now.

I was thinking back to the episode when Zuko and Katara were in jail together in Ba Sing Se and thought that since Katara never tried healing Zuko, she should have another shot.

I know Katara used her Spirit Oasis water on Aang…pretend she got more from Pakku. xD

Review, please?
